The new 2017 38 Fountain with 565 mercs, ran 93 at loto this summer for the shootout.
I believe Getrdunn was looking at a small step late 90's 38 Fever. With 525sc mercs, those ran upper 70s if I recall.
The 38 Fever was one of fountains slowest hulls. The small steps, didn't do a whole lot for them. Light years away from say, a 2007 38 Stagger lightning hull.
I will say this though, I am obviously a Fountain fan, but some of the speed claims, I have yet to see in person. I remember everyone saying how a mid 2000's 42 Stagger with 525's will run 90. I know two guys with them, neither have got close to that. Mid 80's when the stars lined up. Most days, 80mph boats.
I'd say, realistically, a late 90's 38 Fever, with bravo's, you're gonna need at least 750 a side to see a legit 90mph on a regular basis.

My first Fountain was a 96 38 Fever with 500's and the small steps. Fountain claimed it would run 81 but the best I ever saw was 78. I took it back to Fountain and we installed Stellings extension boxes and when they got done they said it ran 87 with 4 blade Intimidator props. Went and picked it up and ran it there and got 86 mph. Back home on Lake Michigan it would run 85 any day but no more. Can't prove it now obviously but that is what it did.
Next had a 03 525 semi stagger and after a couple of years of playing with props and adding extension boxes it ran upper 90's and ran 94 in the Shootout so that can be verified.
Never touched the engines on either boat.
