New cam setup
Have a question it’s to late because I already made the choice and built the motors with this. But I’m reaching out to see what everyone things of this cam selection. So I did what I’d call a mild engine build on my at one time stock 330hb 454’s. I did a 750 carb. Edelbrock performer rpm air gap intakes. Exhaust and cams. My biggest question is am I going to run into future problems with my selections. If so what issues do I need to look for or what can I do to avoid these issues. Here’s the cam kit I ended up going with. I am running a wet exhaust as well. I will try to post a pic of the exhaust. As I also have a question that I’m sure someone could help me with on how to dump water further back instead of right up front. Very new to the marine performance game appreciate all the help and possible step by step solutions.

Here is pics of how the exhaust is currently done. What can be done to remove the possibility of reversion. How would I go about moving the water injection point. I'm not an engine builder, but it looks pretty mild to me compared to what I've run without any problems.

And that’s all I was trying to do. And then of course today I was just scrolling thru other posts and started getting worried that I was going to have issues. Just trying to have something mild but reliable. It’s just a little 89 Formula 272 Sr1. Not trying to get crazy but what a little performance upgrades. |
You should be fine. The risers have a tall bend, so reversion should not be a problem

What about water getting back in from the point it is getting injectected. Is that a possibility at all? Seeing that it’s at the start of the risers? |
Those are double walled risers. The water doesn't enter until after the bend going down and ust a few " before the 4" rubber hooks up.

I'm running Merc 496 Aluminum exhaust with a 288/294, Lift .585/.610, 112 L/S cam. No issues.

Isn't it strange I was running a cam close to your duration's but less lift and I had reversion using the stock 496 risers lol. Nice healthy cam how is that working?
Edit: Also, I see f_inscreenname pic above has S pipes. These help stave off exhaust water reversion also. |
