was looking for a blackhawk but I figured I'd pop it pretty quick haha

Was thinking on the drive height. Was hoping for something that would make it a bit more concrete as going up is not cheap haha

The black hawk needs a transmission. You have more HP then mine (500) and my single engine cruiser weight is at least 11K with a B3. Have an XR upper and B3 lower and been doing fine for years. Could add a nose cone to reduce drag. Would be nice if you could find a lower to try and see how it did. I wouldn't suggest a B3 for the ocean because if you get air the drive is probably toast, but lake should not be an issue

The blackhawk does not need a transmission...it s got a cone clutch just like a bravo. It does favor a boat with some rocker and natural bow lift.

Old thread, but anyone else with experimentation here?

I am starting to tune on my 27' Excalibur. I am turning a 1.5:1 Bravo with 28P LH in a 27x7 hull. Prop shaft depth is 1-5/16". I am fighting the starboard lean especially when running the boat solo or with a lightweight passenger. I am not willing to fix it with tabs.

Next moves:
Labbed prop - try to reduce stern lift, the boat could use some bow lift anyway as short drive height doesn't have much leverage

1/2" or 1" spacer to try more leverage to carry the bow.

Switch to 1.36:1 gear and 26P prop.

The boat has a very minor built in hook. I would consider working 1 side at a time.
