Why do my Oil Filters get so Tight

Only engines I've owned that have had that problem is 496HOs. None of the several other engines had this issue. It was like the dam things were welded on the HOs.

I tried to do my oil today, only to be tripped up by a extremely tight filter. I have the band type wrench. Got it all the way to the bottom of the filter, no go. Can I punch a screwdriver though it? I'm out of options. 8.2 H.O.??? I put this on only hand tight, oil on gasket. etc...

the reason the oil filter gets harder to take off is because of expansion and contraction from heat cycles. To confirm what I am taking about, install a new filter and do not run your engine and go remove it a day later or a week later - its an easy removal with zero run in time on the oil filter.
Lube the heck out of the oring as well. Clean the mounting pad and put a oil film on that end to. Installing oil filters - I really do not use the wrench as I am able to hand tite them good enough for the install. Its like anything if you install enough of them you know how tite to install by hand. Over tite filters is bad as well.
Also using a wrench to install spin on filters runs the risk of denting the filter. Find more new filters with dents in them from the installer and that goes for fuel water sep filters as well. I do not like dents in new filters as that can disrupt flow and filtration.
