I can confirm that the 525 EFI is a drop in replacement for the 496. Getting your gauges to work is a problem though and exhaust holes will need to be relocated in the transom. The Bravo X upper will not live long per my personal experience.

496 - 425 hp at prop shaft.
525 - aprox 470 hp at prop shaft.
I think that 600hp and over is going to get me more difference in speed, but then I think that I must change my drive from bravo to IMCO

JohanSweden is there anything wrong with your 496 other then lack of power? I was wondering if it would be easier to super charge it and get you close to the numbers your looking for. Just a thought.

I have self thought about this. But many people have adviced me against it. Because supercharge a CBB Gen VII 496 is begging for problems, but thats just what I heard. I have no experience of it.
Theres so little price difference from my 496 to the 540 Bulldog. The money I spend on parts for the 496 is more than what I put extra money for the 540 .
