The stock heads won't take much lift without hitting the guides, unless you machine them. 2 bolt, cast crank and rods, guessing you'll want to keep the RPM down, maybe 228/ 236 range at .050. Just a guess

The new guides have been machined for a roller higher lift cam, Id like to spin it to 5800 to 6k if I want

Maybe go with a similar grind to the 427/425HP. lift on stock 390 was 461/ 480 425HP lift was 519/519 Duration on stock 425HP was "around" 232/236 but keep in mind it was a solid cam.

i think the hp500 efi cam would be a good choice,230/236 at .050.598/610 lift 114 lsa.crane cams 169621.with the factory heads and 10.25 to 1 cr i think it will make you smile.i might have one on the shelf,if interested il check.

Ive not built one of these in years, can the step nose cam fit ? I see in the front of the block that it looks like its machined for the retainer ring but not sure
