Default Help boat got overheated , doesnít run right ..

Ok water pump belt broke didnít know it until I saw smoke and temp gauge pegged Ö

I took it home and did following ..

changed the oil and filter , changed all the spark plugs and ignition coil. Installed block off plate and added new electric fuel pump and changed fuel filter/water separator Ö

boat will start fine , idle fine, rev fine while in neutral . BUT when itís in the water and I try and accelerate it sputters and misses Ö

It is a 454bbc

should I check carb? compression??

Except the mechanical pump pushed more as the rpm increased.....

Also where did you mount electrical pump?? they like to to push, they dont pull well.

The way it is wired . It pulls from tank through mounted filter then pushes to carb . Should I re route to pull directly from tank and push through mounted filter to carb

Fuel psi not enough. 5-8 is good.

Iíve worked on many engines, including marine, that ate a headgasket over heating. If bad enough can warp surfaces. Sometimes create a trough between cylinders. Iíd do a compression test.
