These old heavy boats are killer on engines, so much load .
That’s where I’ll be. Might take me a little longer to get there however I’d like to think I have an energizer boat that keeps going and going. 😂. The expense of hitting a goal is one thing however down time with such a short season is another.

4 psi 4000rpm and 31.5* is great. the problem is that the front 2 cylinders are probably 10:1 AFR and the rear 2 cylinders are 14:1 AFR. If you just change the intake manifold to port injection you will fix that. (Whipple has one on there website) you can get it with 1or 2 injectors per cylinder with the fuel rail. Then you know that you are getting an AFR reading thats probably within the actual reading by +- .2 to .3 . Batch fire setup will be constantly changing with the load change on the engine. Like trying to program a Hurricane . The best thing is if you do that you will go past 100mph

I’m dumbed down when it comes to injectors etc. How does that work with 2 per cylinder in layman’s terms. I’m just not familiar with and need a low down on. I know it works just wouldn’t know how to set up.

On Smitty's dyno (articfriends) with 8 O2's my engine AFR's was pretty close cylinder to cylinder. Just for the sake of doing it we tuned the 2 leanest cylinders down to follow the average. #7 cylinder was just 3% fuel above 4000RPM and #1 cylinder was graphed 2% @ 3000-4000RPM above 42KPA, 3% above 4000-5500RPM and 5% at 5500RPM+.
Timing can also be graphed in the same way.

Yeah, anything above 12:1 effective CR is pushing the limits of pump fuel. https://documents.holley.com/techlib..._tech_info.pdf

imo there isn’t a difference, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it tested

Surprised no one has mentioned the quality/accuracy level of dash 2" boost guages. A few years ago , I noticed some differences in boost readings, on fresh blowers, I naturally ordered some new guages. But their readings kinda made no sense. Then I bought a certified industrial guage and started bench testing, pulling psi's from a log and comparing the certified against the 2" gauges at the same time. Bought a second certified guage from a different mfg. and the certified guages matched. I will say, Auto Meter mechanical and electronic are probably the closest. normally at least .5 # off, Gaffrig up to 1.25# off, Livorsi .5 to .75#. I probably have a dozen new gauges in boxes. With that behind me, I now measure the real boost with a hand held certified guage and put a pretty gauge in the dash. In summary, I was really surprised, especially being new gauges and some of these folks tell you they are guaranteed X% accurate. I even told Auto Meter I would definitely pay extra money for accurate gauges. How can the industrial folks build accurate stuff and they could not. Crickets. My advice for those pushing pressures to the edge, better make sure your gauges are accurate. Even if you have new gauges.
