Appreciate any info you can provide.

I have a printer, but I’m not sure the surface finish would be ideal for airflow. My intention was either aluminum or Delrin, but seeing what they are selling for on eBay, I can’t even buy the material for one. They seem to be fairly sought after. Would there be a market if someone were to make a few?

Rookie,

I agree. When I initially asked Smitty about sending me one, I didn’t realize they were so inexpensive. They must be a blow molded piece….?

I doubt theres any real market for this piece since manufacturer quit making them, I just stumbled onto fact on flow bench/dyno that it took a modded tb from 1200 cfm to 1500+ and a 650 hp engine with nothing on tb to 685 hp in back to back testing. BTW, to answer your question the other day, I watched the scanner on the whippled 8.1 when it was on my dyno yesterday and at 8 lbs of boost it was commanding 23 degrees of timing so im sure 24 would be fine too tuned rich,Smitty

I ordered in one of these intakes to.evaluate and test with, pretty impressive, definitely "big"

What I'm not sure about is that if I have a larger intake port than a larger head port, the CSA will be driven by the port inside the head.
On the other hand, I don't know how bad the port mismatch can be. I've read several post on forums that in carburetor versions, the rect intake with oval heads didn't lose performance.

There is some support for a 0.050" smaller int port. It promotes fuel atomization with the shear.

I wouldn't do it.

A rec port intake feeding an oval port head would be a disaster.

Thats a really good question that i DONT have definitive answer for. I can say this, I used a 2000 cfm throttle body on my street car, a 11.4-1 pontiac 461 with mefi4 ecm. I made roughly 580/590 hp on dyno and similar tq, it made 95% power at like 5/8 throttle too. I was able to tune any bog out of it with AE so even a really fast stab does NOT cause it to bog, it comes alive instantly. I was having a discussion about this intake and since the whole ports NOT big, IDK what it will really do on something its not appropriate for like a mild 509. It has a 5.31 CSA at entry and tapers / funnels down to a somewhat normal bbc opening , I wouldnt put it on a 454 unless it was gonna turn some serious rpms, like 7500/8000 BUT it WOULD be interesting to see what it does on like a stock 500 efi. Since a stock 500 efi is as cam restricted as intake restricted my guess would be it would give up 30/40 ft lbs tq sub 3000, 20-30 ft lbs tq 3000 to 4500 then gain 20/30 hp on top and 200 rpms based on shorter runner length and other intake experiments Ive done BUT you really DONT know until I pull lever on the dyno. Im gonna cast a mold of one of the ports to map/ measure size of csa top to bottom
