Engine weights?

yeah it should. pull teh exhuast to be on eth safe side plus it make it easier to move around. That alone will knock off 100 lbs or more if you have stock cast manifolds. Ar eyou using achhain hoist or charry picker? I used my cherry pick on the 500lbs extension setting once and was fine. I need a few extra inces to get it out of my truck. I know trhe manufactureers figure in a 50% safety margin when rating that stuff. So you can go over (once in a while) and still be fine.

Ya I would pull the manifolds otherwise you will be on the edge of the things capacity. With the manifold off you should be fine. I use a 1.5 ton hoiste to be totally safe.

Yea, I wouldnt try less than a 1 ton (2000lb). I had an electric hoist rated 1000 lbs and although it would pick the engine up, the brake wouldnt hold. I think fully dressed stock merc motor with all cast iron manifolds is easily 1200lbs if not more.
