Question Trim Tab Mounting ?

I am trying to get some trim tabs but I may have a mounting problem. I am looking at getting the Eddie Marine K-Plane style tabs. Where the tabs mount on the transom, it looks like the Line fittings run right into the stringer. I have a severe space issue on my transom, is it possible to run a bolt into the stringer or do they have to go around it. Any help would be great. Thanks

Has anybody ever had to run lines or bolt through the stringer?

Are you talking about the bolt that has the hydrolic line in it? If so call them up and see if you can move it. Maybe change blades from side to side with cure your problem Then were you are having the issue you will have to search out Stainless Lag bolts and run them into the transom and stringer if you really want to send it home. Hope that helps. As a last resort you can maybe not use the tube that has the hydrolic in the middle and run your hydrolic fluid off to the side in a through hull fitting off the tab.

The transom on my cat is extremely tight as well. My K-planes were mounted by the factory and required a notch in the outside stringers. They used a hole saw to cut the notch to get access to the mounting bolt. I don't remember where the line comes through right now.

I've got the motors pulled now so I'll try to get some pictures and get them up here this weekend.

Eagle - Here are some shots that may help you out. If you do it this way, make sure to coat the inside of the stringer with fiberglass or resin.

Good luck!

BTW - My bilge looks nasty now, but that is one reason the motors are out. I'll post some "after" shots once it's all done!

Another view.
