fixed it...
In case anyone wanted to know...
There is a little coupler (not shown in the diagram) between the motor and the top of the pump. I took the motor off, cleaned everything up, lined it up and put it back on. I think the shop that replaced the motors for the previous owner didn't make sure the coupler was where it is supposed to be.

I had the same thing happen with mine last season. The shop pulled the motor to get the numbers off and didnt replace it. When the new motor came in the slotted coupler (which is not shown in the break down) was bouncing around the bottom of the pump assembly.
