Do you have those high quaility GOLD CRANE ROCKERS ?

Just a bad bearing, ruined crank and cracked block!!! Engine ran great and strong. I just noticed a little oil in the bilge.

Pull the motor before an inexpensive issue turns into a complete
rebuild with new block like mine!!!

I would take the filter off and cut in open for a close inspection.

THRILLSEEKER 05-01-2003 09:09 PM

As already stated I would check the distributor gear before I tore the whole engine down;) If its not a brass gear then just call me when it breaks because I will be the only other crazy ****er out on the lake on a stormy day:crazy:

formula31 05-02-2003 07:26 AM

Dont forget about me, Ill probably be there too. Probably broke down too though. I hope it isnt too serious. Dist gear, valve guide, bearings, cam gear thrust washer, thats about all I can think of thats brass looking.

Distributor drive gear first and valve spring shims next.

If they did not put a hardened valve spring shim under the spring it can do the same thing.

Just once
Pull that motor & drop the pan and be sure.
I just bought a HP 500 motor that had been rebuilt, oil pressure was great for a short period & started dropping slowly. Within 1 hour max I spun a bearing on # 6 rod. I still had 20' of pressure at 1000rpm before I pulled the pan. I am gonna pull the rest of the caps tomorrow. Check it for peace of mind & save yourself $$$
Iam not looking forward to starting all over again plus I just blew a couple $$$ and never had any fun doing it!
