oh,
and if you get to the point of drilling and installing a helicoil. place a piece of metal flashing behind the hole to protect the rubber drive boot from a plunging drill bit

wow Rambunctious , thats a bunch of info for future reference. hope i dont need it but THANKYOU!

i think my problem was a dirty spot on one of the contacts. thats why the pump was stopping before i was all the way trimmed out.

measured the pin to pin length before taking it to the lake. measured 21 7/8" couldnt believe i got it that close by guessing.
didnt want to take a chance after the good advice i got here so i adjusted it back to 21 1/2"

went to the lake and got the 5 mph back that i was running before the contact got dirty

thankyou so much guys!
you saved me a bunch of money with your advice.
