Has anyone tried the new contoured billet base for the K&N flame arrestor? I see it advertised a few months back, but could not find the listing on the K&N or the REX Marine sites. If your using one, did it provide any performance increase? Would like to put on my 502 EFI. Also, what was the price? Thanks, Chuck.

cdscarab i think your talking about the unit in cpperformance catalog or on their web site made by hardin marine / k+n for the efi
engines. i have one on my 1998 26 sonic with
502efi. i picked up 3miles an hr with this and lab finished prop. went from 67mph gps to 70mph gps , so don't know exactly what i gained from each ,because did both changes at the same time.

cdscarab,
I called Rex Marine and they have the billet adapter and K&N filter for the 502 MPI for $145.00. I just had my ECM reprogramed by Energized Fuel Injection and they said to use the K&N filter and adapter from Livosi or the Rex Marine version. They dynoed these and they showed the best improvement of all the aftermarket flame arrestors. Hope this helps.

vonbongo was thinking of doing the same upgrades as you did and add imco power flow exhaust on my 1998 502efi, did you have to change your prop ? so you really think it was a waste of money? did your rpms increase?

I think it's only a cosmedic Thing.
I went out one day and did a few WOT passes with my GPS. then I stoped and Removed My Air filter completely. So there was 100% NO restriction. Did the same passes, And seen no differance whats so ever
Try it. And if you see a differance, then maybe it will work for you.
Good luck

WOW, thanks guys. Am getting 502 ready for dyno and was thinking that the K&N element/billet base would be an improvement over stock. Hmmm, was expecting more diffinitive results. Gonna hafta sleep on this one. CD
