I had a 1998 Eliminator 22 Eagle xp with the 502/415, eddie marine exhaust and ran a 28p Spinelli 4 blade at 78 GPS. That's smokin in that little boat. Fun!! Sometimes had a tendacy to chine walk...

I have a 96 22' scarab with a full roller 454, dart heads, holley 850 double pumper carb and stainless marine exhaust. On gps turning a 25 mirage @5000 rps it will run a steady 81 mph driver only and about 15gals of fuel. This boat is a rocket. I have taken mine to ocean city maryland and ran with the big boys. They were speachless at the way this boat handles, and how fast it is. I have pics of the boat with the prop all the way out of the water. This is a great boat by far I have had 2 baja's

I have to agree, These boats are a blast to drive. My best so far is 74 gps with full fuel,(60 gal) coolers, gear and 2, 180lb. guys.Never have run it light yet, usually when the coolers running low its time to take it easy. Figure I could run 76 with a light load. I love drivin this little rocketship, it's just rips! 81gps is just awsome! I too have owned bajas before. I like the scarabs over the baja's, much better in the rough stuff.

I would agree. 76 has been on 1/2 tank and just me in the boat. The thing launches hard and goes to the red line fairly fast. I would like to swap my Marage Plus 25P for a 29P and see if I am still within WOT RPM range however I have not found any Mercruiser demo sites in my area that have anything other than outboard props. Anyone else done this?
P.S. Is Chine Walking that left to right tipping back and fourth that goes away if you trim down a tad? I get that starting at about 71 or 72 and if I trim down ever so slightly it goes away.

Last spring I installed a new 454 Mag HO with an XR/ITS package in a 94 22 Scarab. It ran 68 mph on GPS. We then installed a Sportmaster lower and gained 5 mph, 73 GPS. This boat also had the bottom blueprinted before the install.

Even with a 1.36 drive 81 mph is almost impossible to attain with a 25" prop and 5000 rpm. It would require a slip ratio of less than 10%.
With a 1.5 drive it requires a negitive slip ratio which is not possible.
All I can say is that your Scarabs are way faster than mine was.
