I still can't believe Craig is selling you his motor so you can chase him with it:D Maybe it can be tweaked on a little to give em' a run for his money...I know where there are a couple of nitrous plates for 850's:eek: :p Should run 95++. I would consider swapping to a 1.36 and running less prop pitch.

CORY YOUR DRIVES ARE DONE. ALSO I CAN CHANGE HIS GEAR RATIO IF HE WANTS TELL HIM TO LET ME KNOW:D

A friend of mine has one with a Teague 509 crate motor with 575hp the boat does 89 with 2 people on board with a 27 Mirage (not labbed) and stock lower unit with 1.34 ratio. With an IMCO 2" shorter lower with a labbed Bravo I 30" he ran about 6mph faster.
Hope this helps. Ian T. |
Max,
I would get with merlin and have him change the ratio for you. You should be in the 100+ club for sure!! |
Merlin,

If you need any help in the prop Dept. let me know. I have 30s 32 34s and 36 Bravos left and right all labbed. I just received my hering 6 blades, dont think that I will be using any of the bravos except where the water may be on the shallow side or in a small lake like you have in Laporte.Talk to Craig he knows how to get a hold of me..anyway, best of luck in your new ride!! eliminator219 |

I have the 2600 AO that Cayformula is talking about and I've run it at 89mph (GPS) with a 14 3/8" X 27" Mirage Plus with two 225lb boys (yours truly included) aboard. This was at 5200 RPM with a stock L/U with a nose cone. The prop is stock (and looks to be over 10 years old!) This is the best prop I've tried so far in terms of top speed but it can't plane or hold the bow like a Bravo.
When I first set the boat up it was running at about 84 MPH with a 26" Bravo. Cayformula loaned me his Imco 2" shortie and 30" mildly labbed 30" Bravo and it ran up to 90MPH before we backed off and it was still accelerating. I have tried numerous props and just bought a brand new 27" repitched to 29" Houston Prop "Accelerator" which I haven't been able to properly test yet. I would say that the best bang for the buck and all around load carrying prop would be a stock Bravo which you could have labbed by someone like York (they did Cayformula's props for like $200 ea.) Pitch would depend on power, setup (L/U depth) and gearing. I would say if you have over 750HP and 1.50 gearing then you would probably need a 34 to 36" pitch. I would have to agree though that it would be better to run the 1.34 gearing. From what I've seen you shouldn't have any problem running 105 to 110MPH with that setup. At that speed an Imco shortie L/U should definitely help with speed and handling. |
