Silent Choice Diverters
#1
I just received a nice "used" set of Corsa Silent Choice Diverters.
Has anyone converted these to fail in the open position? Seems like if one of the solenoids were to fail while at WOT you'd be looking at some serious valve or worse damage, especially on a supercharged engine.
I'm considering modifying the location of the solenoid to accomplish a fail open condition. Any else try this?

That was a problem I had when I bought my boat new in 1995, made Corsa aware the the fact that Mercruiser would void my HP500 engine warranty if run at over 3000rpm with silent choice engaged. Corsa reworked mine at no charge, and since then I believe that all their systems have been designed to "fail open". At least on the boats that I have seen since then. Might want to call Corsa.

Yes...its optional on Corsa...you have to ask that you want them to be open normal and closed only when activated. There is a code for it when you order them...can't remember what it is..maybe R for reversed.

I don't know the part numbers and I don't think they're listed in the catalog..but I have a set of brand new ones and I can save you some money.
Also, basically what they do is place the solenoids on the opposite side and then install a pin in the center which the diverter plate rests against keeping it straight.

Correction
I believe quick and quiet Plus power to the open position and captains call powers closed. I have quick and quiet Plus and they are powered to the divert mode on my HP500's.

Yes it can be done. This is what Corsa does. You have to move the solenoid from the side of the diverters where they are now to the top, basically move them 90* then install a pin in the center of the diverter from the top to bottom. This is what the diverter plate rests against while in the open position. Make sense?
