Most Throttle/Shift/Indicator cables have the length(sometimes indicated in inches) printed at either ends or both ends of the cables. Simply replace with the same length cable. Been doing it this way for 25 years. Ed

Thanks Ed. But my boat does not have any indicator cables now, as it has never had mechanical indicators before. This is something I want to add to it.

When I go to replace the shift and throttle cables, I will look for the measurements as you suggested, but in the mean time, I hope a 311 owner can help with the transom-indicator gauge measurement.

Chart, as you pointed out, mine would probably be different due to the Kaama drives.

I never had any luck with these indicators, they always stuck. Since I never have to trim my drives to tailer position I did the following. I drilled the end of the plastic rod that slides in the tube. I then took the clamp pictured below and drilled a hole in that. I screwed the clamp into the end of the rod and fixed it loosely around the the stainless piece that pushes the rod in. Now the drive pulls the rod out and pushes it back in. The sping and gunk are now along for the ride. Did this first in 1988 on my Baja.

Just make sure the clamp has a nylock nut on it so it doesn't tighten up too much or loosen.
