pulled the engine and the cam broke just before the distributer gear.pain in the butt getting that little piece out of the end of the block.now i'm wondering if i should put my old flat tappet cam back in?the only thing is the valve springs are set-up for the roller.rooler closed seat pressure 132 lbs, flat tap 130,open flat 338 lbs, roller 414.just wondering if would hurt anything having 76 more lbs of seat pressure than is recommended?the flat tappet cam is the one b&m says to use with there blowers and the boat was faster with that one in.dave

Apparently not, because I ordered the 021 and still got a black one! ....it went back - no thanks. As long as you got copper, you're ok it seems.

That cam is now part of thier "Z" series cams---supposed to have more area under the curve for more average power. I think they've just done a little marketing to capitalize on the latest needs of engine builders (that more avg power "under the curve" makes a stronger engine thatn a big dyno max hp #) by grabbing thier grinds that fit this bill and renaming them part of the Z-series. The grind # is basically the same.....soo.... me thinks it's just marketing...........

i'm going to put mine in anyway, over the winter i'll pull the engine again and go up one size bigger to the 139651 cause the 139741 just don't seem like it's any better than the flat tappet that b&m recommends for there supercharger's,cause i lost 2 mph going to the 741.dave

Wonder if that would be the result of diff timing on the cam??, were they both installed at the same degree, --"straight up" or 4 degrees ret/adv etc??...............................

I have a pair of 651 cams. Maybe 40 hrs or running time. Great condition and they are not black. I'll sell them real cheap.
