Default TRS gimbal ring help needed...

84 TRS gimbal ring with u-bolt at top. Can the ring be removed without pulling the transom assembly??? What is needed to get the top pin out? Do you have to cut the housing like a Bravo???

here is the housing shot , i belive you will have to pull the housing. those nuts will most likely fight you. the top pin nut is a biotch. you also have to remove the tiller arm , etc the ring is probably cracked where the u bolt seats.

There is a gimble ring kit.. Comes with the new ring, plugs for the holes you have to drill, misc parts and a bellows....

Around 850 bucks..

I have the instructions for it at the office, could scan and email em to ya...

It's a pain, but it will come out. Same procedure as a Bravo, however the upper steering shaft is usually stuck in the ring. If you are not going to re-use the gimbal ring, cut it on both sides with a sawzall, and deal with the steering shaft in a press.
