Default Throught Hull Pick-ups on Cat

I am installing Stainless Marine 1-1/4" water pick-ups on 36 Spectre Cat, should they be flush with bottom of hull or at an angle to to direct more water into system? Does anyone out there have any informatiom to share?

I've run both thru hull and transom mounted. I always left about a 1/4" angle cut on both. Never had a water pressure issue. BTW, I've seen adjustable depth pickups in some of the aftermarket catalogs.

I really like the adjustable ones and recommend them whenever I can. I believe the stainless marine ones are, but I could be mistaken. I have mine set to 1/16" below the hull bottom and show around 15psi at speed. Try using a allen wrench to set the distance. Watch for the step. That will airerate the water and cause the engine to overheat. Also try to position the pickup so it doesn't disturb the waterflow to the prop.
