Re: SVL Point Pleasant
[QUOTE=Ron P]Augie, what's the prize if only two boats show up?
Losers washing the winners boat would be a good start :D |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
To qualify, all teams need to be registered with OPA 30 days prior to the race. Randy, that means you have to have your paperwork and money in by July 12th.
Five laps on a 4.5 mile ocean course. It shouldn't break the equipment. Just your pride :evilb: |

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
People, here we go, right from the top.Yearly OPA equipment fee per boat (450.00), 100.00 each riding crew member (2 @ 100.00 each =200.00) and the race entrance fee is 500.00. That comes to 1150.00 per boat. There will be a minimum of FIVE (5) boats in the SVL Class, Not Two, Not Three Not Four but Five in order to get the prize money. Here's how we will break it down, there is only ONE (1) WINNER in this class, the purse is as follows: The one and only winner will get the 5000.00 back from ther entrance fees plus OPA will put up ANOTHER 5000.00 making the winnings 10,000.00 and if you all agree, the losers wash the winners boat. Mad-Dog & Hollywood had that bet with Kevin and I two years ago and it made for some great racing and a lot of FUN PICTURES. Good thinking gmhdfan, I hope they all agree to do it. Any Questions?

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Shane, I like the way you think. The OSS boats have a race the following weeks so we offered a shorter course so they would have less of a chance to break anything.
You guys as a group can determine your own distance. |

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Well, the one thing you guys are forgetting, Under the leadership of Kurt Berger....these races were not short. If I recall p5 ran 8 laps, P4 ran 10 laps, P3 ran 12 laps, P2 ran 14 laps, and P1 ran 16 laps. usually 7 mile laps. A SVL runs P2 speeds which would be 98 miles. I dont think they even carry that much fuel.
As much as I would like to see a battle, there are a lot of races this season. Most of them the finishing order is decided in the first three laps. The rest of the laps are to see who will break. We dont want to take anyone out of a Series Title postion. This race is strictly for the Fans. We are trying everything we can think of to raise the boat count in Pt Pleasant. If a big purse is the answere, so be it. The more boats we can get to come, the easier it is to get the $. We are trying to bring back the NE. We need a good showing this year so we can raise the $ for a National race next year, Thanks to the SVL teams for your interest in this race. We will also have a great couple of days for you to spend with the Boyz. Working hard on extra events. Smitty |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
MM,
In my opinion winning the national title is the top honor in any class. We race hard all year against real competition. We do not want to break our equipment's a week before our national race in Orange Beach,Al,which by the way it promises to be one of the bigger events of the year.Whoever is in front by the third lap is 99.99% of the time the winner. As far as the money,as you know that is our normal purse in our organization, although we are extremely happy that OPA has gone out of their way to provide us with this opportunity. We hope you will be there to cheer Shane on. Wil |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
"the Jersey Boyz Top Gun Award"
|
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Klaatu,They dont race against anybody!!!!!!!Like I stated before my commitment is to OSS and the National points race. This is as simple as I know to put it.Vortex will have his points locked up by Pt.Pleasant,on the other hand we would be in the hunt for the point chase we hope.

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Shane,
You are probably right,no disrespect intended.Your team is dialed in and Cory's boat still needs some work, although we know that they will be competitive soon.I can take any criticism from you or any respectable racer but when people that don't even race criticize the teams that are racing ,I seem to get a little unreasonable.I meant no disrespect just stating the fact that right now you and Gary are ahead of the competition.
