Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Klatuu,
I can understand why you,as a fan, would want a full race, but like I have already stated,we were told it was to be a short race so the equipment would not bust up.enough said. Wil Ps.no offense,in the rare ivent we win,I wouln not let you wash my boat, you might scracth the paint :D :D |

Shane races anybody and everybody that is willing to race in the organization that he trusts - it's that simple. Don't preach "commitment" and then bash Shane and Gary for being committed to APBA. |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Listen Gentlemen, This race offer was to accomplish a few things. Number one increase the boat count in Pt Pleasant. Number Two stop all the nonsense going on between some racers, who if they were standing all together would realize they are all from the same mold, otherwise they would not be in this nonsense sport of ours. So I will end one dispute right now. No matter what anyone says, It will be a short coarse for obvious reasons. Plus we will probably give them their own race, as most of the other racers want to watch this. We cannot tie up the race area for two complete races. We are not looking for an endurance run, just a sprint to see who is the man. Smitty

[QUOTE=Phantom1]Wil,
How big would your commitment be to OSS if there were only 2 SVL boats? Would you stay committed or go find the competition in an organization that you have no confidence in? 1# in the off season all everyone read on here was all the boats that SBI/APBA/WPR/UIM were going to have? Where are they, Being rigged, etc enough of the excuses. 2# Imposing UIM rules, but only enforcing them After OCT 05 3# It would certainly find more trust and confidence in people willing to invest thier own money. then after a race because i dont like the results say i will leave, to just get the results change to my liking! 4# If there were only 2 boats commited to OSS most would move where the competition is, unless a sponsor tells them otherwise. Pon P sent the inviatations out giving the guidelines, those that accepted said fine, dont change the rules, or hound someone because a National title is important to them. Team extreme' national championship is just as important to them and thier sponsor. |

I'd suggest you put some more thought into your posts instead of posting something you think people will believe just because it was written. For you to compare 4 Supercat owners and their comments and treatment on OSO, to the OSS smaller classe racers and their comments on OSO, makes you sound foolish. If you could actually pick yourself up off your knees and take a third party perspective, you'd see that most of the BS in the milling area starts with comments like Wil made about Shane having no competition. You don't hear Tom Abrams doing that. |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Mark and Pete, read post # 1 would you like to be the reason we pull this thread and race? I dont hear any racers saying one word. Not even Randy. Willie made a statement you were too fast to confuse. They are leaving the BS for the race coarse. Yet you continue. For what reason. Just to listen to yourselves? No one else cares. Leave it alone. That was the reason for this thread. Oss racers race Oss SBI racers race SBI OPA racers race OPA Lots of options so buy a boat and go race! Smitty

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Guys....If the racers want to make a comment to other racers I think they have earned that....if its a stupid comment, then it reflects on who he is...if you notice, Wil dose talk to Shane with respect and vice versa...maybe the non racers need to take a step back and if there is to be a conversation about certain racers...they can choose if they wish to have it on OSO or not...we are all big boys here....the racers should not need other people to make comments for them....
Lets not loose site on who and why this race is even being put on for...Smitty and OPA have put an oppertunity for all SVL's to have a chance to race against each other for 2005. It will be the only class to have that opertunity to have a combined OSS and SBI/APBA race....I'm sure there are other racers out there that wish they can have the same oppertunity for there class.... What do you say if there is going to be some trashed talked about this race, we let the SVL racers do it...they are the ones who have to back it up.... I'm starting to get the feeling no matter how great Offshore Racing gets, you will still have people bickering how bad it is.... Pete...I don't know if you have permission or if you even need it...but to throw out names like Dave S, Tom A, Paul W and Gary N. These guys deserve every bit of respected that they are given not only on OSO but in every day life....These are the guys when they do post something, its all positive for the sport. So when they do post something, its not us kissing there butt, its giving them the respect on who they are and what they do for this sport. We could only wish the guys you mention and some others would post on here more offen....but I don't blame them for not doing it because if they do...certain people would just jump on them about everything.... When we the racers want to some how all race together...and when guys like Dave S. and Gary N. post on OSO, how they would like us all to race together thats the little hope we have knowing these are some of the people that will be involved in making it happen. So I don't think compairing them to some other racers on OSO that are always starting things up is fair to say.... How about the next time one of them or a Organizations can get a race with a class from SBI/APBA and OSS together we commend them for doing it vice all the commplaining on how to do it...... Sorry, I tried to keep my mouth closed on this but reading all this was driving me nuts..... |

This then will give everyone at Jenkinson's, Martell's and the rest of the beach the (view) of a "Full Race". The other classes can make their run further south for the other sponsors. I am sure it will all work out! :drink: P.S. Bring those small props guys!!! Short course and as history has shown usually very rough. :evilb: |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Guy's understand it's not any racer from any group making the rules, it's Smitty and OPA! Smitty has brought up all valid points as to why it will be a short race, spoke to me and I agreed but it is Smitty's decision as President of OPA. Everything is on the table for you guy's...here we go with choices again, come to Point Pleasant, NJ and RACE OR DON'T RACE! Pretty simple, HUH! Now go get your boats ready and lets have a good, safe race.

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
So Shane, how many miles do you need to make it worth your while?
We thought a $10,000 purse for five boats would get your attention. After all, this is the only time all year you'll get to have some boats to race against. After all, what's a grudge match without a grudge? |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Hell, I would drive anywhere for a 10K purse, regardless of the race length. Unless of course, I felt I didnt have a chance to win. Is that really why you dont want to come up, Shane?
Don't be scared of the black boat :D |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Shane what is you're personal preference on miles

I never understood why Shane would want to run the 22 mile race anyway. The Extreme/Vortec boat has won races by finishing races - before Shane had it and now. The short course just benefits those that race stupid or can't set their boat up to last a full race.
As for the "grudge" aspect of this - I thought Key West addressed that. Shane, Wild Card and Wild Ride proved that they can run with each other any day. |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
As a fan of offshore racing it would be great to see all the boats, no matter how long the course!

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Shame I guess you want a title for this as well. The first to commit to the race and the first to back out! Keep racing yourself you wimp!

Shane must just be holding out waiting for OPA to offer TOW MONEY too.... That may not even work either. If he was looking for any excuse to back out, I guess he found one. :( I understand the reasons for the short course. My personal opinion? Sure I would have liked to see the long course, but like I said, if it is shortened, just make more shorter laps to keep all the action right in front of the fans at Jenkinson's, Martell's & Risden's Beaches. It would be the most exciting 22 miles anyone has ever seen. I still look forward to the rest of the fleet of SVL's that will be backing up their commitment in supporting the OPA with their race. Hell, the Jersey Boys and OPA have been out there supporting APBA & SBI events now for how long? It would be nice to see the same courtesy at least for this one race in Point Pleasant. For those of you that are coming, my THANK YOU in advance for supporting this race! :drink: |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
I really think he is looking for a longer race. Spoke to him today. Lets just keep the focus here. This race was to bring those guys together. I am not defending anyone, or taking sides. I know all the players very well. I am just asking for everyone to just make this work. It would be great for PT Pleasant, and it will give them all a chance to show their offshore talent. After all Shane is also from Jersey. We have put a lot of effort into this event, I am sure everyone will have a blast. Did I mention the DUNK THE RACER tank we built? Smitty

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Come on guys, let's try and make this work. I am taking off work to come up there for this thingy and I want to see the BS stop when the boats hit the water. You got the spirit, you got the boats, now Smitty's got the cash, come and git ya some!!!! :D :evilb:
|
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Shame, You committed now show up if you have any respect for Smitty. Its been 22 miles for weeks now and now you have a problem? 10 more miles wont make a difference in the outcome. It would only be worse for you because the ass whipping you are going to get would show that much more in distance. :D Man up punk!!!!!! This could be your last chance to race more than 1 other boat all year. Remember you have to race other people to be called a racer. Whats the highlight for you at a race? Do you get pumped up trying to pull on the pace boat on the parade lap? What is there for you to do after the race starts?
MD :evilb: PS If this doesn't piss you off enough to come race in Point you are hopeless. |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Hell I`ll put a tent over my Pantera for that purse :evilb:

This event will be worth taking off for. Even if it is less one boat.... You will not be dissappointed..... :drink: |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Guy's, we're getting OFF TRACK AGAIN. I suggest ALL THE RACERS FROM SVL( JUST THE TEAMS RACING POINT PLEASANT, NJ) call Smitty TODAY (732) 920-3945 with their thoughts and get this back on track. Remember, THE FANS and SPONSORS are gonna LOSE.
|
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Shame, So your decision is based on a poll that was put on OSO  . I would think the race teams that are going to bring there equipment should be the only people polled.
As long as you like the poles so much lets start a poll asking all the fans and non racers if they are disappointed that you are not going to show up. MD  |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Shane, see the letter (that you should have been handed in Marathon) in post 65. I gave these letters out in Pickwick and you and Cory should have recieved them in Marathon. The milage is stated in the letter.
I really can't believe the milage is becoming an issue. You'd think a $10,000 winner take all purse would be enough for ya. |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Guys this is a perfect example why there should only be one sanctioning body that way we are all on the same page and all racing together as a whole and not beating up one another as we all can see that this is what has happened here,if we all were in one group we would all be racing the same amount of laps, the same weight boats and all racing together, instead we are just proving that we cannot get along and that we all have different agendas and that all of this BS just probably cost Bill Purnell and I as well as Mark Henderson a 100,000.00 Dollar a year sponsorship because we sound like a bunch of HE SAID SHE SAID CRY BABY NON PROFESSIONAL MOTORSPORTS PEOPLE.If you agree or you do not agree that is the real story, there are not enough race boats to go around,we all need to be on the same page if we want this to go anywhere,OSS,APBA,SBI all need to be one,the people in charge of these groups need to get together and put there personal aggendas aside and make this happen or the sport will just continue to fall apart,if you truly care about the sport or if you have any smarts about you,you will know what I mean and help try to mend it,we all need to race together and we would not even be having these debates,it is about boat racing, not what is cookin on the grill, who is prettyer than who,who wants to race a 22 mile race, and I agree with Shane because it is a waist of time to come cross country even for 10,000.00 in prize money.we have to work together and fix the problem or just get out, because as it stands we are just pissin in the wind.
|
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
HYPER, Your post was going well until you had to put in that you agree with Shane on a 22 mile race. With comments like that you are as much the problem as anyone else and you do not even know it. Do you here yourself or am I missing something?
PS This thread is about Point Pleasant not unification. Please start a new one if you want to go on with it. MD  |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
1Hyper1 If you losing a sponsor because of a little *****ing on a website that a very minute amount of people outside of racing reads, the deal was never that solid anyhow and it was an easy out.
As far as the grillin goes, we had a perspective sponsor (BIG) marine part distributer with us for the Pit Grillin party's and he actually commented that that was one of his favorite parts of the race weekend. Don't get me wrong, we are all buisiness on the race course, but a little fun goes a long way for my sponsors. PS Our team won't be paying for any accessories for the rest of the season now if you'll excuse me I have to go order my new FREE fuel pump Now back to our regular scheduled program |

Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Smitty....not to get away from the real reason why you have been doing this....but if they don't want to show...how about something with the super-vee's with 6 or 7 of them with a good pay out...maybe we can get some SBI/APBA and OSS SV to show and compete with each other since most won't be able to race each other this year.....just a thought to get the boat count up....and since there are 3 of us already that would show...I'm sure we could get 3 or 4 more....
Not trying to shy the attention away from the SVL's, I hope they all come to a agreement.... Just a thought...... |
Re: SVL Point Pleasant
Gino, the first step was the SVL. That class along with our normal P class makes a nice boat count. The purse for the SVL will come from OPA. I am meeting with another sponsor on monday for a purse on the SV class. And on and on. I want PT Pleasant to ROCK this year, and am not letting up till it happens. There are already 6 SV teams interested in coming, Start spreading the word. Even if this sponsor falls through, I will put up the $. Smitty
