Super Duper Saturday

I am too wrapped up in work right now to make any kind of commitment toward racing. Life could be worse...right?
Trent, lets just say that there were some unhappy teams in 05.
Sharkey...I think we are on the same page here.

Please e-mail me the reasons of the unhappy team so I can help to get it fixed. This has turned into a positive thread so that should be the best way to handle it.
I did a run down of the teams from that year
F1-10 Culbertson - Boat sold
F1-11 Devlin - ???
F1-12 Sarro - became F1-7 still here
F1-12 Weyant - became F1-2 still here
F1-44 Parks - got tossed and never was a factor afterwards, walked away
F1-56 Kildahl - became F1-4 was told by team member that sponsor wasnt paying for 2nd place, wants a minimum beam
I kinda find it hard for the unhappiness, since they all made the rules and if Frank is the issue, I know first hand he got out voted on anything he wanted, so it sounds to me as though he is a non-issue. I also have heard that there should be a minimum beam rule, but I never heard complaints against Team Activator, Twisted Chyx(Phantom), Team Winnebago/TKO(Activator) back when there were 20 some odd F1's.
I was consulted about changing some rules for this year and I responded that he needed to get w/ Brian in order to make Key West a smooth transition and not to let them have any excuses for not showing. With the exception of Innovation motors and sealing, I think they match up now, in fact I think Frank is in the works of getting the Pfaff motor approved for SBI/APBA.
To paraphrase above, I cant fix whats broke if I dont know where to start looking. Please, by all means let me know.
Thank you for your time and help in this matter and I look forward to hearing from you,
Trent

Sometimes its hard to see the forest from the trees, But in the end we all want Offshore to excel. We all have different opinions of the way to get there.
The World Championship at the end of the year should be THE only World Championship, No separate flags, Not one organization holding the keys. It should be a Invitation from the Conch Republic to all racers world wide. The rules would of course need to be addressed, Entry fees would go to Live television, and Promotion and Prize money. Bragging rights go to the classes of 3 boats or more. those that dont have 3 boats may elect to run exhibition, or a Production class which fits thier boat. But IMO every class would have competition if so desired. the end result would bring unity to the racers, and give a show that the fans not only expect, but glad they spent their hard earned vacation/money to get to.
Be Safe! And be glad you live in a country where you can live your dreams!!

Sharkey by what you just said I spend a lot of time and money to get to an event to find out that I am the only boat in my class, I should then just go home. It's not a race teams fault that no other team shows. I do agree that only half points should be handed out in that case.

My point for a certain number of boats at a race give the fans a idea of who is actually racing, no one wants to be known as a paper champion. At race site "A" 2 SC show up they are awarded points for showing up in SC, but will race PX where only one or two boats show, knowing there are mechnical gremlins that take boats out of the race they have just a good a chance to place on the podium. the Key is the fans will see a 4 boat start, vice a 2 boat start. It really is about the perception of what the fans see. IMO if you want sponsors,
then you better have fans, Marketing, promotion and having ample boats per class, whether super series or P-class.
