No, you shouldn't go home.

If you choose to drive around the course being the only one in the class, then the Purse and the Points should be reduced and a World or National title should not be awarded without some competition.

Now I think if it is going to cost you money because someone isn't going to show, you just may do whatever you can to help convince your competition to be there!

That's what I always did when I raced the E-Production Class with the Bullet 130.

That is why you now see the 750 cat guys all trying to put together things for this year. Like I said half points and short money is alright. But when you go to the Worlds and end up by yourself if no title then you might as well go home and save the wear and tear on the boat and a whole lot of money for a week in Key West.

True!

Most racers are only a phone call away. Usually you can have an idea who will be coming to the Worlds prior to getting there.

A boat should not be allowed to run uncontested all season and show up for the Worlds to run uncontested and claim a World Championship Title and go home with a 1st place purse.

But hey, that's just my open and honest opinion.

For what it's worth....

We can to Key West as defending champions from 05 with a 4 boat field, in 06 CMS said they were coming to Key West at the last minute Bob went to Destin, so we left Ket West as defending champions. Not what we wanted but it is what it is. This year all the 750 Super Cat will race together will make for a great year

Yep.. me too.. far.. far.. from offshore racing doze I was looking for!

TOP 10 THINGS I LEARNED after 45 minutes of reading this ecliptic marry go round.

#10 - If I'm not a racer, I'm a cheerleader & I will Shake them Pom Pom's.

#9 - Don't take any photos of race-boats and post them for others to enjoy especially in a racers section...
WTF where you thinking Pete??

#8 - And for GOD'S SAKE!! don't put any dam'm captions on them.... I like to use my imagination.

#7 - Miklos is the GOO!!! (God of offshore) He has done more for offshore
racing this morning when he tied his shoes than most have or ever will,
and if you feel strongly other-wise....... HE WILL RACE YOU!!!!

#6 - Before you hit the "SUBMIT BUTTON" look down at your bracelet with the engravings WWRGD?
(What Would Race Girl 3 Do????) and ask your self " Is this post gonna help offshore or just make me feel good?

#5 - I "never being a racer, would never get a full understanding" of wanting to make the sport of offshore better,
Hell...I'm only the cheerleader Shake them Pom Pom's from the shore and watching the da'm'm thing, why would I want that?

#4 - Bob bull and company also have HUGE amounts of "Straight-out-of-pocket-cash" and uncountable amounts of man hours personally vested into keeping APBA alive for many years, but for some odd reason, they don't feel the need to post their achievement for personal glorification as Miklos seems to bask in...

#3 - Who the H-ell is Steve Miklos anyway?? (no attack intended... just have never heard of him until now and not impressed if he is a big shot)

#2 - Sorry guys but If you race in a class of your own... yes.. you are boating on a race-course, but NO,
you should not be considered "THE WINNER" and certainly not a ( fill in the blank ____________ Class National or World Champion.. you want to be a "Winner" of something, put a boat in a class you know will have competition or go to a friggin Poker Run and show them who's boss of the class-!!

#1 - I'm Done!!! Despite my initial resistance... I'm Following Donzi's lead as Dragons, Outerlimits, Fountain and even SPEED CHANNEL have and putting my fan attention overseas in the Powerboat P1 Competition where the event of Offshore Racing is still a spectacle to be admired by the masses of motor-sports fans.

Racers are admired for the risk they take and for their love of the sport, not turned off by their bickering and inner-politic agendas that are aired by each-other like dirty laundry.

Sure... I'm only one lonely cheerleader standing on the shore waving my Pom-Poms....
but this year I'll be waiving them from my couch,
watching 40 boats drop the throttles at the same time a yellow flag goes down, in true "Offshore" conditions or from shore, on my vacation to Malta, Italy where last year 60 thousand spectators lined up to view the epic battles that take place between Man Vs Nature, Man Vs Machine, and Man Vs Man in true motor-sport fashion.

And now let the attacks on the fan's opinions begin. but I will not be here to watch.

Dear Racers: It's not me, it's you and I must end the pain and agony...
I'm sure there will be more fish in the sea. XOXXO your Ex-Ethusiast.

P.s... I know it's only a few...but the fact that you guys look at us as inferior or cheerleaders for making the effort to come to your event, support and "Cheer" you on.... REALLY PISSES OFF!!... but I'm better now....Hoooo-Shaaaaa...

Phantom,

Its funny how some fans get so bent out of shape over nothing...
I have never heard a racer say we don't need our fans...
We know how important it is to have them...but they don't stop to think that most of the racers want to same thing as the fans want....For all racers to run together....and the fans will not be the ones to get all the racers together..it will be the racers that are the ones who can accomplish this...
The fans spoke up over a year ago and voice how disappointed they were that we all were not going to be in Key West. It did not effect the racers one bit and they did what they needed and found excuses why not to race together.

If anyone comes out to watch a race..every racer is greatfull for there support.
But if you mention the word cheerleader to define a few people with agenda's then everyone thinks were talking about them....

If the fans want to see great racing....they should be putting pressure on the racers to get there acts together.
It keeps coming up about compitition and boat count and its the key to our sport and a lot of racers are the ones that are saying it....so what are the racers that are on hear going to do about it....

A couple of suggestions.

1. Would OSS and SBI/APBA give racers from the other Organization a pass on equipment and member fee's to come over to do a few races for some added compitition, also that would go for OPA and SBI/APBA P-class racing.
If no....why?

Don't you think that would bring in some more boats...
The Organizations are not going to loose becasue they are boats you would have never had, plus its not like there is going to be 25 or 30 boats more were you would need more divers , helo's and added expense.

2. What about a 2 race pass for non racing members.
You pay the entree fee and are quallified for the prize money but not the points so that it would not interfear with that Organizations National Championship sice you would not be in the running.

We all could go on and on about ways to get us together and its a pretty easy thing...but is it because some don't want us together...that would be just stupid.

Again I bring this up to the OSS racers becasue they are the one's that make the rules and can change things along with OPA but OPA is pretty easy...pay a small equipment and member fee and race all year with no entry fee and still get prize money...no brainer...

If you really want the compitition....and really see if your that good vice talking trash...make some exceptions to the teams who are willing to compete with other teams in other Organizations for the real meaning...Compitition....

And I'm courious what would be the downfalls of these suggestions....

Your not waving your pom poms for one side or the other, you just cheer for offshore as a sport. Since about 8 out of the 10 gripes were at things I posted feel free to contact me at any time and I will be more than happy to fill you in and give you my perspective and I look forward to hearing what your suggestions are to "fix" this sport that we all love.

In a press release from the CONCH Republic they invited all racers to Key West this year, simple race 2 whereever in OSS or OPA and you are eligible. We welcome everyone and if the racers want a united worlds then they will attend, if not they can do what they chose. No more having a so-called united world championship and then walking away with 2-3 different champions ever again. No other organization is invited, each race team in this country is. The racers have choices and it is up to them now. The door is open.

As far as tv, please by all means put up the money that Reggie has put into it and we will call it the "Donzi38ZR infomercial". Whether it was good tv or not, there was tv and the station never canceled it because of poor quality, unlike some some other broadcasts I have heard about. Thats here nor there though. Hopefully the associations can produce something if not as good or better than the old Speedvision telecasts. I look forward to it.

I can be reached anytime 321-508-3077, but I hope you do call cause I posed some questions concerning the F1 class to an individual earlier in this thread, since he stated he knows what happened to the F1 class and I have yet to hear his plethera of knowledge on the subject to date. I'm here, please dont hide behind a computer screen
