I think consoildation of classes by making current race boats obsolete or restrictively expense to refit would kill the sport for good. The only answer to consolidation would be rules that equalize the boats simular to P1 or major sponsorship $ to refleet.

(not sure if P1 is actually working either)

Gino, what is about all the open boats.
Did you forget us or do u think they are gone in the future.
Alot of us can not aford to buy a canopy boat to run in SVL or SV-Unlimited ??????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless we will get high $ sponsors.
Also i think that the money is the problem to make the rules equal with the P1 class.
Only a few could aford to ship the boats to europe back and fort.
Also i heard that they spend like close to a 1/2 Million $ to race over in europe ??????????

Just curius how that could work ?

But for now ,i just have fun .
C-YA !!! all in Key West

DAREDEVIL.....I have not forgot about you guys...I'm one of you guys ( P-Class racing).its you guys that are keeping our sport a live....I was talking about the spec class's...I personally feel we will always need our P-Class's (both open and closed cockpits).......but when we get into the Cat and Vee canopys in spec racing....thats what I was refering to....the 2 Vee class's to the 5 Cat class's....sorry if I came across leaving the open cockpit boats out....

Gordo, Mercury decided to stop building the 750's. They introduced the 850's. The 750 teams did not want to buy the 850 motors, due to the cost of buying up to 3 sets of motors.
It was just as easy to keep the 750's because of the money involved.

A 750 Team will probably have 6 motors so that they always have a fresh set to race, and freshen at least every other race, some 750 teams freshen after every race . An 850 Team has 2 850 SCI motors that have now proven to be good for 2 seasons plus so far, without rebuild, WHM has 70 plus hours on his set. Both 750 and 850 boats average almost the same lap times. The 850 Teams engine costs are less......

till you have to take it back to merc for the rebuild and from what i've heard is a few of the sc 750's are running those motors for half a season or more.
that class needs to let the 750 bump up a few horses and run with the 850's. just put a cap on hp like they do over in CLASS 1.

remember when there was twelve plus of those guys!!
