More boats = more excitement for the fans, who buys the sponsors products- that's the cycle. You really need 35+ boats to put on a great show.
Now the question is why are more boats in one place versus the other? I believe the answer is rule enforcement. Racers want to know the other guy isn't cheating. Following this thinking, the group who doesn't do tight inspections and rarely penalizes anyone would have fewer boats than the group that enforces the rules.
Additionally, one group embraces the media, freely gives interviews, and allows reporters terrific access to the events. The other group turns away exposure in boating related magazines, refuses to give interviews and could care less if the media covered the event or not. Rather you would expect the small group to be screaming for attention.
One group tries to put on a fair boat race while the other group thinks of itself as an "Extreme Motorsport", about the same as a monster truck show.
One redeeming factor about the smaller, quieter, group with the loose rules...their races are generally more fun to attend. Everything surrounding the race is more fun. The Pits, the parties, the people.
They are two different companies supplying racers with two totally different products. One group's product is to give racers a great weekend away from home. The other group forces their racers to put on a fair races for the fans to watch. The racers are almost treated as a second class citizens in favor of the fans and sponsors.
As a racer, I'd go wherever I could find the most boats racing in my class.

Ahh, I knew HotFoot would respond in some negative fashion.
Your always a great one for throwing mud, but I've never seen you put any positive comments on this board. Regardless of what I am or what I do, I don't see you disagreeing with what I wrote.
Please tell me where I'm wrong.
And yes, I do work closely with Kurt and the other members of our club to try and breathe some new life into racing in the NorthEast. What do you do to further the sport? Anything????
Oh and by the way, my name is Ron Polli, what's your?

Ron,
Whatever crap he wants to say you are a great guy and get great coverage for the sport. Is this guy even a racer or just a loudmouth wannabe. You are right he just complains with no credability. SBI is gasping for air and maybe he has an investment in it. Who knows. But either way he obviously never went to one of their events since he doesn't know about their rules and attendance records. Ron, were you go i will proudly race.
EXTREME Boats and Ron Polli make a positive difference.
What do you do besides make yourself feel better behind a keyboard!
BE POSITIVE OR BE GONE!!!
Last thing we need is another crybaby who only knows what he reads instead of the facts.

Hotfoot, heres the problem I have with you. Unless your blind you would see that the Jersey Boyz are all about trying to get past the politics and just have fun racing. This year, they started racing APBA events, as well as SBI and OPA. They are trying to erase some of the lines that divide the sport.
If you understood my post, you'd see there was no name calling of any kind. Rather a statement of fact as they are known to me.
The problem is when people are so one sided (pro SBI like yourself) you piss off the people who you are actually fans of SBI.
Let's just say, you don't help your own cause very much.
