Joe, Well said I second that!!!!

Randy,
SBI is tiring to build an affordable, and safe class. Yes the F1 class speed does need to be slower, and yes it does need to be affordable. I think that is where we are at now. A target speed of mid 70's, and a new boat ready to race that can be built for high 70's ($78,000-$79,000) will help the sport and the class grow. Also like you asked...yes it would be great to get all of the F1 that are now out there to re-power and race again. I would hope that is what they would want also!
I'm not sure what you meant about selling Merc products? We feel it has to be one motor or the same thing that happen to F1 last time around will happen again. Not Volvo,Inovation 425,and different drive like the dual prop. Randy if u remember at one time in F1 there was 4 engine options, and I don't know how many drive selections. You know as well as I do that was the beginning of the end,and we all know how that happen but thats old news and the past.
All we can do is take one step at a time, and hopefully make it better as time goes one. Its funny everyone talks about bring F1 back and now that the wheels are in motion the S....T starts again. I don't think anyone really know what they want so the decisions are being made and positive input like yours is welcome.

I see APBA has these rules in their 05 rulebook...will SBI share the same configurations?

No they will be alittle different, SBI weight will be alittle less, extension boxs, and no X dimension. We are testing these things now to see what speeds we can get. We dont want to slow the boats down to much, and are conceened that without the box it just might not work. But nothing is final yet, should be before KW.

Question Re: 2005 F1/f2 496 Ho

Ok,my new kryptonite has steps so I cant race apba with the ITS, but I can race SBI?The imco shorty is no good for apba what about SBI/?

Whats wrong with an imco extreme ?Is it beacause it wont break?A bravo xr with sportsmaster lower seems like the same banana to me.Roughly what would a 496 cost? Thanks Brian

Brian,
As it stands right now no shorty outdrives just Bravo OneX,XR,XZ., and the standoff box is fine. Cost on a motor alone should be about 10-12 thousand and a package is 18-20 thousand.
Randy,
Thanks for the input we'll keep it in mind...

Frank,

Only a suggestion here to help create some parity for the class. Only allow ITS or other extension boxes on non stepped or non notched boats only(ie.Sutphen and Velocity).

I Agree, it seems the only fair thing to do and with APBA and SBI doing joint races next year the rules need to be the same. That rule has been in effect forever, why change it
