You need to bring your Sonic up to Lake Huron, definetly not a small mud puddle!

Oh ya, I'm planning to. I hear St. Clair has a good ramp.

Good luck with that dude.

When powerboaters are getting harrassed by the local law enforcement, we are going to spread the word.

I used to spend just about every weekend in GH (at least one day) but I can honestly say that I didn't go there once last year because of this Harrassment. Not that I'm a high roller or anything but I didn't spend one dime in your town and I won't be back anytime soon either.

I am probably one of the people that "Cfischer" is speaking of as far as warning other offshore performance boaters here on OSO about Grand Haven and being ticketed for noise by the water patrol, but I agree with you RS. I mean no offense to anyone.

I don't like what is happening anymore than any other avid performance boater and it is sad to see Grand Haven and some of these other harbors turning this way. I used to love coming to Grand Haven too. We used to boat up to Grand Haven from St. Joe a few times during the summer back in the 1980's...especially during the races and the Coast Guard Fest and we always had so much fun! But it sounds like those days won't be back and I probably won't be either.

America is such a blessed nation and yet we Americans complain about some of the pettiest stuff anymore these days! I do not understand all of this political correctness and other crud. I hardly even recognize America any longer! Sounds like we got it too good....and we forget too easily!

Sorry for ranting on.

God bless the USA!

Well put Mark!

Anybody run in Grand Haven or Holland yet this year? Are any of our police friends having a slight change of heart?

I'm looking into making a set of boxes possibly similar to the merc x'haust system... looks like they have it figured out for the 700sc. I'm a little more concerned about revsersion in my application though... so I'm thinking of going water jacketed as far as possible in the down tubes.

We run in Holland without issue but we have decided to not return to Grand Haven. Too many things go wrong, too much hassle, and I even noticed that they are putting up a sea wall on the little beach across from Snug Harbor so... no more trips for us up the lakeshore from Holland. We'll continue to head south to Saugatuck where we are welcomed.

No sea wall, the far left side toward northshore marina was not very useable anyway. It had allot of old dock pilings which were removed. That also has a water intake, they place rocks on that side to eliminate erosion which broke the water intake. The rest of the beach is still open to the public.

Cops so far are being ok, but like normal they and the coasties are pulling everyone over for a safety check.

They have been on the water for a while now, but with only two boats, one in spring lake and the other at the coast guard station. The rest are starting to go in since the holiday weekend is coming.

When you guys are saying they're OK so far, are you guys running slightly louder than the legal limit and not being bothered? That would be my situation...

I'm probably going to be putting in at Holland Friday... just finished reinstalling the engines and made a bunch of changes. I'll probably be out there most of the summer - I didn't have any issues last year there, knock on wood, hopefully this year will be OK too

I heard there's some logs/pilings floating around stirred up by the dredging going on at the macatawa entrance to the channel... be careful! I guess they have an underwater saw cutting old dock pilings and now they're floating. yikes.
