Holy Shnikes... that looks really nice! Nice paint on the motors too. You can't just post the pictures without the details
What size engines (you never know, 502 valve covers may be for insurance purposes
), how much power, who built them?
What drives/props are you using?
How have the test runs been going? How fast will that boat be passing me at?

For break-in we are running the stock computers. Right now they are basically HP 500's, but with a butt-load more torque. Right now they are 506 hp at 5150. They will certainly be more once the new "Brains" are installed. The best part is they are over 650 lbs of torque already.

I blew a 91db and a 86db during the same test! After R&R ticket last fall. I decided to pull engines, take off silent choice, & install mufflers. I asked for a courtesy check while in LOTO and was bummed I was back to 93db with new set up, same as before using silent choice.

So to tone it down further, I built a set of custom downpipes. Parts were purchased from local Lowes.
These tips really hushed it down, so I was looking forward to being retested by Ottawa Co Sheriff. I towed up to Holland & called for a patrol boat. Nice guy, but damn he ran into my boat hard.
Anyway he ties off, gets out his meter, and sez No, you fail at 91.5db. I look and he is holding the meter 1' behind transom and 1' off water. I remind him the law states 1 meter back, thats 3'3", and I pull out a tape measure and hold it back were it should be. It shows 87-88db. He turns it off and sez, ok I'll write you at 89.5db and you will pass.
I said BS! Do the test correct and take an accurate read. So he gets meter back out and holds a few feet back.. I say 4-5' off water, not 1'. He can't reach that far. Lowest read I saw was 86.5. He wrote it at 88.5db.
Thank you, sign off, good buy. I'll be damned, he ran into boat again. I explained all that in letter to the court and have call into Sgt, as he previously assured me all his people are well trained.

I talked with a city council member this past week about this situation in Grand Haven and brought him all the info from this site as well as one other site
I also talked the the Mayor a while back and I to had talked with the marine patrol
It seems that what might be needed is some added pressure from the city most effected financially, to ask the marine patrol to look at this entire situation a bit differently and see if it can be resolved
Talking to the marine patrol is a good start but at the end of the day they are just following someone else's orders
It seemed that talking to the marine patrol was not bearing enough results It might help to talk to the city council and let them in on the discussions
Will see if this helps or just gets lost in the political mess
I am told there are discussions on this matter in council
stay tuned for some updates or the sounds of crickets (depends on them)

This year is a true sign...not sure if its the economy or just Ottawa county scaring everyone out of town. I heard and saw a few get popped this weekend and told to take the boats off the water. I sure am glad I sold my shop on the water front. It is dead around here.
