it is definantly a different landscape on the water today

we used to run with or watch many of the big iron around here every weekend and it was just so cool to be a part of

Many people used to come here to play from far away

We even had a guy come from canada for SOTW and he left his boat here for a year to commute over and play on the weekends, those days are long gone

the marine patrol and coast guard on the water here have less experience in boating than most of the people they pull over but give em a badge or a uniform and they get tuff guy syndrome

GGB's 2nd hand from OSO board. I like them a lot. Down tubes of course, come off when I visit less restrictive ports.

You know when I was tested at LOTO, he was pretty casual about setting meter, etc, Said he had not tested anyone yet this yr. He rafted off with his tramsom extended 8-10' beyond mine. I think the 93db was acurate, but who knows?

NO HASSLES IN ST. JOE!

www.venetian.org

By the way gang, St. Joe will be having their Venetian Festival July 17-20 (Thursday thru Sunday). They have a ton of food booths, 3 sound/entertainment stages (they fly in well known entertainment), carnival rides, fireworks, boat parade, all held right on the St. Joseph River and Silver Beach (south pier). Great boating and family event.

Use the DNR lauch on Riverview Drive and the farthest two ramps out, tilt your drives up a bit, easy does it until you get away from the boat launch, stay within marker boeys/follow the boat traffic.

We plan on being there.

SOB after 6 years of boating in GH I have never been pulled over, I always run on 1 engine in the channel, stay away from the boardwalk (unless tying to the wall) try to be courteous cause I know not everyone wants to hear my boat.

Well today I wanted to run the boat and burn the remaining fuel out of it before I put it up. Well the Marine patrol must have been bored today cause I was fortunate enough to get my loud exhaust ticket. He made me put it on the trailer not allow me to continue my voyage. telling me its the LAW and I have to, what an F'n bum deal. For 6 years I have been illegal in GH and now the last week of boating season they want to pull me over. Good grief!! Oh yeah not one question about any safety equipment.
heading to Lowes to get the handy PVC
s#it I failed with 1 engine running, I blame this on JimV with his heads and his cams!

Just had to vent

Very, very unfortunate...

I have several business interests in the Silver Lake area and routinely drive down to relax, take pix and watch the boats going out of Spring Lake/GH...

Very anti-climactic though...Just like sitting at a funeral...

Little sound...

It's so depressing, seeing performance boats, heading out of Spring Lake/GH without sound...Especially on the weekends..

So much so, that I have even stopped going to GH just to look...

Swung down to South Haven, based on OSO recommendations
and the environment was far, far better, even though it cost me a couple hours drive time...

Needless to say, I won't be haulin' my boat to Spring Lake/GH...Apparently not worth the hassle...

Sad, since I've been planning to do so for quite some time...

But, I guess it's too late...

I think I saw you leaving Saugatuk and heading toward South Haven, I was on the beach in the cove with my Powerplay 185. My friend Shaun was beside me with his 357 Formula.
