Laszlo, definitely take your bunch over to Oyster Bay and meet up with Wrink and DrPete those guys are hardcore boaters and party animals. Would be a real fun run from Clinch Marina too, probably a good hour or so up to Charlevoix. And I concur with Elmwood, only a five minute boat ride over to the marina. Have Fun!

Nick it was great meeting you and your wife at Thunderfest and I hope you had a good time, we will put in at Elmwood for sure and mess around in the big water for some sight seeing and then meet up with the gang at Oyster bay for sure, any low spots or hazzard areas to be aware of ? Will have the wife and kids with us as well.

The "locals" always tell me stay about one mile off of shore in any direction and you are safe. I believe the bay is about 150' deep in the middle. But you can see where the water changes colors and where peoples docks are 200' long, stay away from those areas and you should be good. Have Fun and yes we had a blast at Thunderfest, thanks for having us.

I too will have my kids this weekend so if the weather holds out dont hesitate coming up. On the other hand that beach south of Elk rapids would be great for kids. I think you can only access from the water. Pretty cool spot

I dont but Ive never been there before and i could tell it was the spot becasue there was about 50 boats anchored together. So from almost elk rapids I could see the mass of boats and just headed that direction. Also, if you just do a google search of "petobego traverse Bay" you can see petobego pond and thats the spot.

try this..... Petobego Pond can be found on the Williamsburg USGS quad topo map. Petobego Pond is a lake in Grand Traverse County in the state of Michigan. The latitude and longitude coordinates for this lake are 44.8567, -85.4415

It should get you very close
