4bus, Xmas in July at PIB is 2 weekends, the 20th is the first and the 27th is the last. In my opinion you could get a dock as late as Friday if you wanted. The dock masters won't like that your only there for the night they want guys there all weekend so you might have to do some BS'n. A dock will probably be best bet for all night partying. B dock is the best though. Last year when we went up for Xmas in July we stayed at the casino Tuesday night and then headed to PIB on Wednesday. I saw boats come in late on Friday and still find a spot to tie up. With there being 2 weekends of Xmas chances are it will thin out the herd. You will love PIB the best. The casino is fun and has good food but a lot more of a variety on PIB.

The offshore boat crowd is actually bigger at The casino, as far as all out partying, PIB.... its all about what you wanna do, we do some very good partying at Kelleys, with a twist of relax, I like PIB, but not into the crazy party scene to the point of walking through bars like a praying mantis spilling beer all over me, waiting 20 minutes to get a beer and 15 minutes just to piss.... PIB is best before memorial day, or after labor day, during week is perfect....

Full Force is correct with the offshore boats at Kelley's. You still get your fair share at PIB but you definitely get more express cruisers and small yachts.
There are a lot of private docks that you may try calling before you head up, I've never tried but who knows. There's also some new joint called the keys that is right next to the public docks they have restaurants right on the water. You can get there number and ask about docking at www.thekeyspib.com

Our group has grown, right now it looks as if 12 boats are coming!
What is up with all the patrol I am reading about on western lake Erie? Is it really that bad? One guy out 3 times and pulled over 3 times in a high dollar cat. Another guy went for a boat ride and Obama shows up at his house asking questions? Not that we are doing anything illegal, but no one looks forward to constant harassment or knit picking tickets.

I don't think it's anything to worry about, it will be a busy weekend for sure, I believe PIB even brings in extra help to patrol the island. As long as you have your ducks in a row and aren't sticking out you'll be fine. I've been up ther the last 4 years for xmas in July and never once got stopped. Occasionally you'll see them on the docks but that's just making sure there's no achol out. Alchol in boat OK, on dock and streets Bad. Usually the coast guard has a big ship up there around that time, just don't give them a reason to stop

They will stop you for nothing it is kinda rediculus make sure you have everything you are required to and don't be drunk when they stop you. We have been stopped in the middle of the lake for no reason and going in to East Harbor. Sometimes going it to east harbor they wait around the corner for you. We had friends come over to Kellys to meet up with us for a few hours and they left early afternoon, they got a dui on the way back. Two Halloweens ago on a Sunday morning we watched every boat that left Port Side get stopped by the customs boat.
I read a few months ago a senator or someone was trying to pass something where they were not allowed to stop boats for no reason, wonder what happen to that.

Our trip is still on for next week. Lost a few participants as the date got closer,
but still a go.
Cedar point has informed us they do not have a launch, and suggested we use battery park marina? What do you guys think of that? Or is there some place else you suggest?
What are the keys to not getting stopped all day by the cops? Hahah
Where are the hot spots to hang out in the water daytime Friday and Saturday?
but still a go.
