Not necessarily. I've been boating on Lakes Huron, St. Clair, Erie and the connecting rivers in my Donzi 22 for 5 years and have no intention of "upgrading".

Been on St.Clair a few times. I am sure it can get nasty when the weather kicks up. I had a 20' and like I stated before in this thread, I got to take it 2 maybe three times a year on the east side of Lake Michigan.

Since the prevailing wind is out of the west, the west side of Huron tends to be rollers when it gets windy. Then the St.Clair river stays relatively calm with winds. Certainly you can boat on that a lot of times in a 22'. But bring that Donzi to my side of lake Michigan and you will want to upgrade, or spend most of your time in the inland lakes.

I've had my boat on Lake Michigan twice. One time the water was fine and the other was 6 footers. We had come up to White Lake to watch the poker run boats come into the card stop on White Lake. Ventured onto Lake Mich twice and planed out briefly in 6 footers. That was crazy! Most of the big poker run boats stayed home too. The Baja "PokerFace" ran it though. Erie gets snotty and I have to be careful there. As I said here before I had to idle over 6-8s last year to get home from PIB. It took hours to get from PIB to the Detroit River but, again, even the bigger go-fasts were staying safe in the harbors that day! I only saw a couple of big yachts. They must have thought I was nuts. I felt like the ships on "Alaska's Deadliest Catch"! lol

Need to come say high some time. We are at St.Joe almost every weekend. Unless we go to South haven or Lake St.Clair. Always looking for people to hang out with. Just look for this boat.

Would love to meet -- Lord willing next weekend (I think) in Holland, MI for a group of PowerQuest boats. We were thinking of putting in at Saugatuk and then go on up. there is a thread explaining all the details somewhere in the bowels of OSO. I wouldn't mind putting in at St. Joe but it is all depending on the weather.

What slip are you guys at in St Joe?

We don't slip there. We just launch at the Island and park on the south side of the pier most of the time. We are there all most every weekend. Labor day we are going to St.Clair again. Should be there this weekend unless the weather sucks.

After some good rides, a few different offers, etc I landed a deal on a Sunsation Aggressor 25'. Has a 7.4 MPI and is in excellent shape. Sale is pending a survey, hope to have it home and on the water here soon to enjoy the rest of the season. Thanks to everyone who helped out and gave their advice, it was all greatly appreciated and your guidance really helped me in my search. I will post up some pictures once I get it home!

Congrats on the Aggressor, I had one with twin Gale banks turbos on a 454. She was a lot of fun, ran out of hull at 83. LOL
