As far as the project goes. I am really torn between keeping the IMCO Extreme SC and taking it easy or getting the SCX. I just wish the SCX came with a -3 lower. I put a lot on time and effort to raise the X 2 inches, just to lose one.. But I dont want to break down... Anyone need a -3 upper and lower? I should just sell it... i allready have people PMing me that they want it. What do you think for price $$$

You just gotta set them up right..weve done a few...never ran as smooth as whipples...but weve made good, reliable power with them...efi only tho

The block has arrived and will be decked, line honed, and rough bored while we are waiting for the pistons. Pistons will be another two weeks, ross piston, upgraded tool steel wrist pins, 4.560 bore, 31 cc dish with .005 deck clearance will net us about 8.1:1 compression ratio. The Callies magnum crank will also be about two weeks to arrive. I'm waiting to hear the ship date for the heads, the valves are in. I am hoping to post some pictures soon.

i had shoulder surgery Monday, Vicoden helps, but I hate the sleep that accompany's the drug, darviset was way too much. And I made it thru the early 80's.. Guess my tolerance is down, lol

Here's some pics of the damage.. I planned the surgery over the summer. I am very active in martial arts and to keep competitive I had to get it repaired. I do full contact competition, took the gold in the master cup and silver after breaking a rib in the upstate NY challenge which included NY an Canadian competitors. I fought a 27 years old who out weighted me by 60#. in the championship bout. I had him until the last round when he caught me with a nice kick to the ribs which broke one. I finished the fight but lost the decision. The rib is all better, and hope the shoulder is ready for the next competition in late February. In my head I still think I am a kid... @ 44 I gotta say im not ready to stop yet, far from it.

The block, crank, pistons rods, etc are still at the machine shop... the boat show season for me starts March 1st.. I am bumming........ Looks like I will be taking the engine to the boat shows and assembling it there.. Actually that would be kind of cool.... I just pray it is all done before April (complete running in the boat) after that my spare time goes away. And I will not sleep well if I have to let someone else do it. My guys could but I want to do it.... I have always done my own stuff. It keeps me in touch with my roots. I used to work for GM.. long ago, 2 business's a wife and son ago, lol .

Not to bum anyone out, but I have been looking at cats.... I am in no hurry but I will have a cat. I have time and the deal will come. I want something without power. I called Eliminator and was looking at some new 2010's came really close to getting one.. Really close. I like the 27ICC, but was thinking a 28 would be smoother and faster.... nothing like twins.. I was thinking I am rebuilding the 510 anyway so I could put that back in the Krypto and keep the -3 imco for it. I would swap the 572 and SCX to the cat... that way I could sell the Krypto.. I decided to see how the Krypto goes first. I am sure it will be fine but nothing goes like a cat.

Ask my dad about eliminators...oh and btw were a skater and spectre dealer when you want a cat :drink:. Out of all the single engine cats, the 25 Talon and 28 profile run the best...

I am also considering a 2001, 280 profile, no engine and drive. How does the 25 Talon run? I am wondering if it is small for our lake? How would you compare rough water ride between the Kryptonite, 25 Talon and 28 Profile? I did talk to your dad about the profile..

Krytponite will run the best in rough water hands down, the only cat that will run with a Krypto are ones with no center pod and twins (SKater,MTI,Spectre,Motion etc). The 25 Talons run very well for their size, but again not as well as the Krypto. The 28 Profile is the best out of the ones mention, but build qualtiy on some are a little bit shaky, Ken's seems pretty stout, and is incredible stable at 125..but 45-110 is the cool part :drink: You need to spend a day with me up here riding around in a few Skaters znd Spectres, THEN youll want a cat. A 30 foot Skater or Spectre with hot small blocks would be the ideal boat for what your describing

I have time in a 27icc eliminator, that runs low 90's with an ilmore. It handles so much better than my Krypto I have had it out in 3's and it stayed flat and on top. I dont know how it would do in anything more, but 3's and less it was rock solid solid, and flat. I like the way the krypto handles the rough stuff I have had it out in far worse and it flys flat but pounds like you would expect. I did not get any pounding at all with the Eliminator. Maybe I need to try it in much rougher water to see the krypto handles better than the cat.

Run the Krypto flat and you will feel the difference, leave the drive level, maybe tucked in a bit and run some tab. It will fly level land soft. :drink:

Agreed, that is where I run it in fact i measured the drive and know exactly where it is parallel with the hull just between 3-4 on the indicator. It runs best by far there any more and it gets loose. And chine walks terrible. Even just a touch more is bad.
I think we are going to have to agree to disagree that is rides better than a similar sized cat. But I have not had the cat out in more than 3's.... So maybe in the real rough stuff it gets better than a cat.

I agree :drink: Either way when you come up Im getting you out in a 28 Skater, it has 3 tweaked 2.5s, Dad actually built it as A kilo boat and it holds the record from Albany to NYC and back, the acceloration is midblowing, right up your alley :drink:

Looks nice, are the older boats just as good? The only thing I have found is once I drop in two built motors I will be into it for well over 100K. I can buy something newer with power for that. I do like the boat though. Thanks for looking for me.

The Spectreor the Skater? I know the new 308 Spectre is a bit different, the 28 Skater hasnt changed. But, im going to the shop today, Ill try and get some pics :drink:

The crank had to have the counterweights turned down for clearance on the piston skirts and then balanced with heavy metal. The short block should be ready for assembly the end of next week. Im going to make a run to Performance Marine (in the next week and a half) to drop off a customers motor that needs head work and a dyno session. I would do the work myself but I am sure it will need some adjustments, my guess is it is running lean on top and burned some valves (needs a dyno session). I am going the bring my camera with me and get some pictures of my stuff. I am going to install the fuel system in my boat and get it ready for the motor. Pretty sure I will order the SCX drive but want to see what the SC will run first. I am trying to get re energized about my project.
Good news is I am going to save about a grand by using a second hand intake and throttle body 1200cfm. Same Accel stuff I was ordering just used. The Accel 7+ is on order. T&D shaft rocker set up, 2 piece valve covers 10qt oil pan, and all new accessories. I am keeping my old motor complete accessories bell housing the whole works. Then when and if I get the cat I will be able to put the krypto together fast.
I have the 510 apart and am going to take it to get bored and new Ross pistons fitted. I wonder what the Krypto is worth with a fresh 510 which will be more like a 530 or so depending on how much I need to bore it remember it has a 4.125 stroke Crower crank and rods. With the freshen up I would guess 92mph or so, it ran 90 before. There are a few cats out there with no power...
I will see what the krypto does first. If I get 115 and its solid which I feel it will be. I might keep it for a while it does look hot.
