I want one of each :evilb:

DonRoc 05-17-2010 06:47 AM

One of each, thats right you kids are still thinking one at a time, lol...

DonRoc 05-21-2010 10:40 PM

We got a moderate pull. The efi takes patience to get set up. Jason felt is was ready for a 5400rpm pull and let it rip. Remember now the motor is setup to run 6400 and 10 psi boost.
So just some max numbers.
Over 800Hp and over 900ft.lbs torque @ 6psi boost. We ran the slowest combination of pulleys on the blower a 7.65"crank and 6" blower pulley. I would imagine it might make 8psi @ 6400 with the same setup. Jason is running a mock race on Lake George Saturday but will be back on the dyno Sunday. We expect a full pull 6400RPM's the way its set up now on Sunday, my guess is at least another 100hp. And with the pulleys that will get us 10psi I would guess I will achieve my goal of over 1000hp, Torque will be just off the chart.. Over 1000ft/lbs.. It will be run with the most boost we can safely run with he combinations we have, the fastest we have would be the 8.5" crank and 5.5" blower pulley. when its all set up on the dyno we will put it in the boat, and decide what the boat will handle.
I will post more Sunday. Monday and Tuesday I will be @ Performance Marine I am thinking a pull or two Monday morning to finalize it, and start installing it in the boat. I would love to have it on the water Tuesday but dont want to get my hopes up. Most important is it be perfict....

DonRoc 05-24-2010 10:17 AM

belt is slipping, we got a best of 1021 ft/lbs or torgue @ 4500 and 980hp near 4700, but after that the boost started dropping off and the belt was slippping.
I talked to Procharger just now and the Gilmore (cog) stuff is in the works.. we are going to have to mill some slots for the tensioner but thats not a big deal. I will keep you posted.

jdub 05-24-2010 02:53 PM

That leaves you about 1500rpms to get another 150hp for my guess. I think you got that......

Philm 05-24-2010 03:31 PM

Absolutely, if you can keep that belt from slipping.

John, you have your boat in the water yet?

DonRoc 05-24-2010 08:54 PM

The Cogs are on there way, will be to Perf Marine Tuesday. I was @ 10psi around 4500rpm, It hit its peak Hp @ 4700 and the boost droped off to 9.2. My guess is we will be near 15psi @ 6400. And belt slippage will be gone for sure. I will not be suprised to see 1250hp... and with the power it is showing me its reallly promising. I am going to have to put 1.36 gears in the lower and may need a cut down Maximus. think it will run 120mph? this is going to be a trip to say the least.. I need a cat, bet it would run 140+. I wil let you know on the dyno run, maybe Wednesday.

DonRoc 06-02-2010 12:59 AM

Just got back from Perf marine. I have some more setbacks but nothing serious. The cog system turned out nice. I may post some pics but am pretty tired right now. So we made a run to @ 5,600 rpm's we wanted to bring it up a little at a time and make adjustments as we went. after reviewing the run we felt we would need to switch to race fuel or lower the boost. Not having any more pulleys, and not wanting to waist time with race fuel as it was obvious my goal was met and I could do it easily without race fuel, I opted to overnight a few pulleys. Right now we have a 73T crank and a 50T blower pulley, it made 15.2# of boost @ 5250 rpm and was climbing. I ordered a 56T and 58T blower pulley.
Originally looking for 1000hp so built for 1200 hoping to be above 1000, is better than shooting for 1000 and ending up @ 900.
Remember again the motor is built to run 6400 rpm. with a 6800 (conservative) red line,
This is what I got with just a rough base tune that was lean I am sure we could have rung out 50-75hp more at the same rpm's with a little fuel enrichment. I will do 500 rpm increments, maybe I will take a pic of the dyno sheet tomorrow.
RPM TQ HP
3000 638 362
3500 801 533
4000 934 709
4500 1029 877
5000 1082 1026
5500 1110* 1059
5700 1104 1075*
* Peak

The 58T blower pulley should make 15# of boost @ 6400, I predict that will give me 1150-1200hp @ 6400. Plenty enough in fact the Tq and Hp it is making now should be enough to get the boat to 120mph. I will post an update after the pulleys get in and maybe some pics tomorrow.
I am pretty happy, but as Johnny Saris said it is not gonna be a sleeper.... The M5 makes some noise..

TeamSaris 06-03-2010 04:54 PM

No its is not...but ittl be one fast mofo

DonRoc 06-03-2010 06:17 PM

by the way the numbers I posted were observed not corrected, corrected was about 10% additional across the board. the 58T blower pulley was installed and we got just under 15psi @ 6000 rpm, We didn't take it further because the system was lean 13.1. the fuel pressure was dropping off. The plan is to upgrade the crossover lines on the fuel rail to -8s. one is a -6. I hope that takes care of it. The pressure under boost was 60 @ 5500 and by the time we let off @ 6000 it was 55psi.
I am going to look for some injectors also, anyone know of something below a 160# that's just a large jump from 96# we have. but the fuel pressure needs to be stable first.
I hope this does not turn into some big project, like the rails not flowing enough or something else. i need to call Accel.
We had just under 15psi @ 6000 and 1100hp in a lean state. I ordered a 70T crank pulley to get it down some more.

Another Day @ Perf marine, getting closer. Johnny might just be running my boat this weekend...

Philm 06-10-2010 07:48 PM

sounds good Don. Jdub and I just put my motor in today, put the drive back on as well. Now all i need to do is mount my headers and the drive resevoir (it is in the way of my new oil thermostat's supply lines) and I will be ready to go. It is about damn time if you ask me.

You haven't got that done yet? Man I guess I have to come hold your hand so that thing will see the water....haha :lolhit: Let me know how the shakedown run goes...........

Philm 06-11-2010 06:02 AM

no, the gf was getting pissy about me spending MORE time working on the boat so I hung it up for the night.

More like Johnny will be sitting in the passenger seat ****ting himself lol

DonRoc 06-11-2010 10:49 PM

Its set up for a throttle man, and you dont want to be in the back seat there is no hatch I didnt bring it. I figured easier to set the motor and we can keep an eye on things better. I will see if it fits in the truck and bring it Tuesday.

DonRoc 06-12-2010 09:11 PM

The fuel curve is set, with 12.5 to 1 AFR it made 1122hp @ 6500rpm. with the 58T pulley. The 56T pulley made 3psi more but only 40hp, which we all know is due to a intake made to build low end torque and driveability with a cam designed for the same. So we are keeeping the 58T in it. We dialed the fuel curve to a safer 12.2 and got 1117hp@ 6500. Thats where it will stay for now. 1 more cold test in the AM it starts great cold and warm now, but one last cold start test in the morning. I could go more cam and larger throttle body and make much more power but really I am past my goal of 1000hp and I am sure this will be plenty of hP for this season. Now I can consintrate on running the boat and getting some seat time at 115+ in a hull designed for offshore racing @ 85. Remember my goal was 110-115 pretty sure it will be more like 120... I will post more when I get it on the water.

Boats in the shop now I was checking it out today

DonRoc 06-12-2010 11:21 PM

You like?
I have a 5 man intercom system to put in it when it gets home. I think thats the only way to save my hearing with that Procharger screaming behind me...

jdub 06-13-2010 12:12 PM

12.5 to 1/ 1122hp? That's very impressive. That means I was 3hp off my guess. What was the torque?

Yea its cool,....seats were a lil high for me but i dug it :drink:

DonRoc 06-13-2010 06:29 PM

If you want just pull the seat bottom and take out the custom wood blocks. Its that easy. My wife and I are short but didnt want anything permanent, so I made some blocks just the right height. They come off really easy. take a look.

TeamSaris 06-20-2010 10:14 PM

We took it for a ride today..i drove and throttled...dad ran the laptop...all i can say is you have a VERY fast boat...

DonRoc 06-20-2010 11:22 PM

Thanks, I figured with 13% slip you ran 119 @ 5800. Your dad said the tabs were in some and the drive down some. He said it could go faster for sure.... I think there is another 150hp from 5800-6400. some proping may be in order also. But he wated to make changes with he laptop so didnt ring it out. He said it was very stable.... I am comming tomorrow, I want to look at the GPS speedo to see whats wrong with it. I am bringing my hand held also, plus I want to install the hatch, and maybe the intercom. You didnt say how loud the blower was at speed... Must be loud. The hatch will help..

jdub 06-21-2010 06:12 AM

Damn.....so fast the GPS couldn't keep up? :lolhit:

Philm 06-21-2010 01:35 PM

holy crap:lolhit:

Tom A. 06-21-2010 03:38 PM

Those are awesome numbers!!!!!!!!

TeamSaris 06-21-2010 09:47 PM

I had the tabs just scraping the water and the drive kicked up just a hair...boat ran nice n flat...and straight as an arrow. It felt like a cat at 110+ :D

DonRoc 06-21-2010 11:40 PM

I am going out on the lake tomorrow, I have her home... I am taking my handheld GPS. I hit recal on the boat gps and it pegged @ 120. my hand held will tell us for sure...

Sounds like you left the key on and was in a hurry to get it home :lolhit: haha just kidding....

DonRoc 06-22-2010 07:05 AM

My GPS never forgets the top speed, unless I erase it. From last year even. Its the new Lvorsi, with the antenna power feed off the unit not the ones that had a battery in the antenna. I never gave it a thought but you are right the old one would erase when the key was off. I wonder if it has a battery feed, or a chip in it to keep the memory like a cell phone remembering phone numbers with the battery dead. very interesting, I need to call Livorsi because it keeps resetting maybe I will ask them.

Philm 06-22-2010 07:27 AM

IDK, but mine never forgets top speed either. I havent even figured out how to erase it, because clicking over to erase doesnt do it.

I cant believe it ran that fast Don. Brett must have really done a nice job on that prop. I have to see some video of this thing running.

Well.........

DonRoc 06-23-2010 07:48 PM

taking it back to Jason for some more tuning, my computer will not interface and i need it this weekend....

Philm 06-24-2010 08:06 AM

You're killing me Don. :party-smiley-004:

DonRoc 06-24-2010 10:56 AM

Killing me too... I held off due to the weather, and am taking it tomorrow. God willing and the creek doesnt rise it will be set.... Friday

Philm 06-25-2010 06:29 AM

Well today's the day Don. We all wait with bated breath. Try not to kill yourself out there, who knows how this thing will react at 120mph.
