The EFI manifold is used but saved me a grand.... I am sure to find a way to spend it.

Philm 03-25-2010 02:26 PM

mmmm, I am getting wood from that setup myself....:hitit:

Fuel pickup

2 Attachment(s)
I am installing the fuel system and some new gauges in anticipation of the motor getting off the dyno very soon... The pump is a Aeromotive Eliminator, the gauges are boost and fuel pressure. here are some pics of the monster pickup... you know when the suction side of the pump is -12 (3/4") the 3/8" stock pickup will just not do.... 3//8...3/4.. doesn't sound like much but next to each other WOW is all I can say...

DonRoc 04-08-2010 10:11 PM

Its all trimmed, angle cut and deburred, I took the picture before I sized and angle cut it...
I have the new hole cut in the fuel tank for the pickup, and the fuel system mocked up. Tomorrow it should be done. I have the electrical side about ready also its a dual relay system. This weekend I plan to move some gauges around and install the fuel and boost. I will post some more pics over the weekend..

jdub 04-09-2010 05:43 AM

Damn that thing is going to be thirsty! Can't wait to see the dyno numbers......

TeamSaris 04-10-2010 08:21 PM

Lookin good Don :drink:

TeamSaris 04-21-2010 07:56 PM

As of today you have a black motor ;)

I talked to your dad today, looks like I may come up Monday or Tuesday to do some more assembly. Then the next Monday and Tuesday hoping to be on the dyno and maybe install the motor. new gauges going in the boat Friday (fuel pressure and boost). Also need to finish up the electrical portion of the fuel system. The marina has been really busy, looks like a great start to the year...
Here is one before paint, the zinc chromate was covered with black for the short block, all the accessories that are not polished will be metal flake purple. (like the intake and brackets) I love aluminum heads and all the bling but it only lasts a few weeks then its all oxidized and looking like crap. There will be plenty with the Procharger and brackets.. IMCO is making the adapters for the ITS so that's in a holding pattern but should be about the same time the motor is ready a few weeks. I want to try it with the SC drive to compare speed and handling anyway.
Between this, the marina doing great, and the upcoming party June 26th I am just pumped.

Ps: I love the valve covers, the custom red tint on top and at only $350 for the pair what a cool look...
Joking, they are just there for the paint....

TeamSaris 04-21-2010 09:35 PM

Sounds good boss, see you then :drink:

Philm 04-22-2010 09:53 AM

Better get that thing moving along, summer is damn near here.:party-smiley-004:

Still waiting on a cam for mine last i heard. Anyone have a good billet core they would part with?:coolcowboy:

DonRoc 04-22-2010 10:17 AM

There were issues whit my cam core also. Actually many of the cores took some time. Try mike jones cam designs, he did mine and may have a core or two. Or just have him do up the cam..
Yeah I hear you about summer, but wasnt summer a few weeks ago,lol

I spent the day in Lake george with my engine. Things are getting really close. I ordered another sea strainer and some overboard dumps for the intercooler, it will have a dedicated system all to its self..here are some pics bringing us up to where the engine is, i will get a few after tomorrow, then i have to get back to the marina.

jdub 04-26-2010 09:42 PM

Moving along now.....those heads look good.

More stuff, we are working on mocking up the procharger on the block tomorrow and maybe painting the intake . The colors I chose are all black longblock, and dark purple intake and everything else that is not polished.. The purple looks about exactly the same as the purple on my boat.

DonRoc 04-26-2010 09:48 PM

the TV is a 54"lol but really the procharger is huge.

Yep the plan is to have it in the boat next week... I need to try to fit in my schedule getting the hull ready.. I see late some nights, but it will be worth it.

Custom work

5 Attachment(s)
These are some pics from last week, some custom work on the intercooler. We had to cut the inlet off redesign it and weld it back on to match up with the blower.
The paint was just done love the color, its about an exact match to the purple on the boat.
The rockers are set up with the proper length push rods.
Ready to put some accessories on it

DonRoc 05-06-2010 10:07 PM

Getting there

Some accessories are getting put on. The custom work on the intercooler turned out perfect. I am up in the air about painting the valve covers purple... The polished look is cool for a few months then its all work to keep it nice... check out the custom one off support bracket for the intercooler. The factory bracket wouldn't work without the carb box, plus it was stamped steel (more like tin) I imagine the cooler gets heavy full of water and all the bouncing the boat will take we really want it to stay hooked to the motor. Just needs to be painted or polished?? Jason Saris just does some awesome work.
Lots of the missing EFI stuff came in, things are coming along good now, cross your fingers for me.
Also the SCX is on its way. I opted for just the upper, IMCO said at the speeds I would be running the SCX lower would lose about 5mph, I cant have that. Plus the SC lowers really dont break they just just make noise and need new gears every 50 hours or so... never know I may try the SCX lower if i get pissed about repairing the SC lower. Brett @ BBlades is making me a custom prop so I can use my -3 on a standard upper. Remember all my work setting up the drive height to perfection and reglasing the transom and raising the X 2"... now I can still have it. I am getting pumped. Funny I dont get excited about much any more but when Jason and I were working on the engine Monday he was talking about how fast and how much power it was going to make. I was just smiling, felt like a kid getting a lap dance for the first time, lol...

TeamSaris 05-07-2010 05:03 PM

Ittl be quick thats no doubt lol

I I decided to keep the valve covers polished, the Procharger hat will be painted purple. Still need to weld in some breathers. Coming along great, the plan is to go back to Performance marine Monday-Tuesday to do some more. Maybe get on the dyno.... the oil system needs to be plumbed, injectors, harness, sensors installed. But it is coming together...

DonRoc 05-12-2010 08:30 PM

The elbows and hat attachments for the procharger are out gettting welded, along with the valve cover breathers.
The new fuel pump and system. The other pic is a seperate water pickup and strainer for the intercooler alone. Is that a big cooler or what.... It will be in paint soon.
O yeah.. That last pic.. just came in today along with a custom test prop from my buddy Brett @ BBlades...
i will take another pic when the lower and prop are on it...
I am dreaming of big dyno numbers...

What do you say, give me some guesses... how much HP how much TQ and how fast will it run when done...
I plan on twisting it to 6400.

I'm gonna try Don. It's my fathers and my best friends birthday on the 25th. I'll know more in a couple weeks. I don't mind where I stay as far as a hotel is concerned. As long as I'm 20 minutes from a ramp it won't matter. :drink:

jdub 05-13-2010 06:29 PM

I say 1125hp/1175tq and 117mph.....GPS of course :drink:

DonRoc 05-13-2010 08:50 PM

Shouldnt be an issue but you better make some calls soon. Would your dad want to come and spend the weekend with you on the boat racing around? Might be a great birthday. I would love to spend mine on the lake with my son.

Remember my goal 115mph, but yeah they way things are going I have to say
1075hp and 1100tq @115mph @ 10psi

And that's a wild as guess... But I had to put mine in there. What will really will mess this whole deal up is if I get 15psi out of the blower..... or even 12, I am going to run it as hard as I can on 93.5 which I have on my fuel dock. And for the ultimate speed run I have Sunoco 110 on the fuel dock also. wonder how much boost I can get out of the supercharger running it at max impeller speed.... I wont know any of this until my first dyno pull and we see what the pulleys give me for boost. Then I can calculate from that base line... That's a huge blower and intercooler, I might get some really big boost numbers. Plus Procharger just increased the max impeller speed for my M-5SC to 59,000rpm, the specs they have on there web site are only 46,000.... that's good for a few PSI..

Philm 05-14-2010 08:36 AM

I say 1175hp/1205tq and 115mph, I think that with a cut down prop you will have a bit more slip than John is accounting for.:party-smiley-004:

Should be a wild ass ride for sure.

Rudy is killing me. Cam is in and degreed, but everything else needs to be done, maybe next week.:angry-smiley-038:

If i remember te slip with the B1 30 was 15 and the maximus was 12, will be interesting.

Don,
I do most of my boating alone, with my friends, or with my GF. My dad lives in the city with his gf and son and travels to China every other month. My dad takes his buddies out for a ride once a month or so. He might be in the city for his birthday so I might just head upstate with one of my buddies. It'd be a great time!! I'm going to start looking into it when I finish with finals here. I have a Intermediate II Accounting final on Monday, Corporation and Partnership Taxation on Tuesday, and Personal Financial Planning on Wednesday:lolhit:. I'll give you a shout to see where my logical options are. You're kryptonites coming out awesome. I'm curious if you'll run out of hull or not. It'd be a pretty awesome feet if the boat was stable!!:drink:

I did a lot of work to get the hull to run flat with out being really sensitive to trim. I raised the transom 2" and did a ton of prop testing. I figured if it was sensitive and a little to much trim would make it chine walk @ 90, 115 would be a handful.
Thats one of the big reasons i didnt go with the SCX lower which would have set me back in the water an inch. This way it will still handle good. But yeah there is a limit in all boats somewhere, some give you a gentle warning some get dangerous. I will work up to it and get a feel for it.... Na BS I will just mash it the first run, lol.... but yeah I am going into uncharted territory for sure. And as I said I really am looking to get a cat soon. i would bet by next season. Im still looking, unless the krypto runs 125 and handles awsome.
