Cove Time. Boater on left had Wellcraft Nova when I met him 20 years ago- He figured it out what he really had when the seats ripped out of the floor on hard turn.
Boater on right had a "Baker" pretty fast but horribly flex- he's onboard now. Cant wait to boat with you guys! http://i.imgur.com/rDd6No3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/y2Pxdnu.jpg UD |
Wow! Nice spot Schweeng. I'm pretty sure that is my boat. What boat launch is this? I'm hoping to take my boat back there on day.

Pretty sure its in Los Alamitos or Newport harbor.
UD - you thinking of doing the Spring run to Avalon next weekend? SCOPE event. Chris |
Looks like Long Beach (area) to me, can't remember what it is called - If I am correct about from the pics ??? The location is somewhat across the street from Long Beach Yacht Sales, If you never been or had someone show where the heck it is - hard to find if you are a OOTer. You have a very long no wake - idle zone to get out in the open water.

These laveycrafts have to be one of the best built boats around, the pride in their glass work is amazing, I would love to see the east coast builders offer an option of eliminating the gel in the bilge. It would expose any potential rot earlier also

Nice group of Lavey's (and a few other companies) heading out to Catalina Island!

I know that launch area very well also. Derrick what did you end up buying? If I remember correctly you called me a couple of times about 3 or 4 years ago.

I know that boat to. Yes it is very nice. Anyways what is Lavey's lay up. Especially in the engine compartment, stringers, transom
In the compartment alone is it, wood or balsa or XL 10 marine grade wood, Also is it resin over then clear coat or something else. Just asking cause I really like it. Also wondering how they get that very smooth finish of that look. I know the engine hatch is reinforced with balsa for the wood look. Thanks |
Derrick I am not familiar with a TRUE wakeboard boat that is jet propulsion. What do you have. Ski boat different story. You must be an older Sanger.

Company "S" actually rules this roost and makes this a feature (laveys a solid#2) East Coasters don't have any idea what they are looking at when they first see a boat "s", as most have never seen a performance rigged V drive with a full plate system - and if the guys moving enough beans say 1000+ - maybe even a turbo 400 set up for 2 speeds. In case there have not been enough comments, I just want to say that your Lavey is beautiful and the pride of ownership is so evident! She always looks great and the choice of colors/graphics are timeless. I pulled mine from storage a week ago and have it at a friend's shop and it is funny to hear the comments from them all; "that can't be gel, must be paint...." I can see where the paint lines end..." , I bet they clear coated it" They just don't get it and I'm loving it! -GT |
why cant you say the name?

Just trying to be subtle. Like saying the "N" boat in the other thread. Schiada is the manufacturer of this boat in this pict.
They are another So Cal custom shop with a long history and build fantastic unique products built with a high degree of craftsmanship. Check out my friend Alexis 2400 HP 24 ft drive Schiada with a compound turbo & supercharged big block in it. GT - thank you, I worked hard and saved a long time for this toy and Im very happy with it and proud of it. I know you will enjoy your machine for many years to come. IF you could see how good my 1991 lavey product product still looked you'd be astonished. UD Alexis ride http://i.imgur.com/HJfykI4.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mRHAH-4AyI |
Company "S" also builds one monster 32'. Saw one on the east coast in Maryland being towed, big boat that I was told does very well in the rough.
|
Saw it a few times as well...monster and I think it's one of only a few. Something is funky about it....kind of proportionate funky.... Would love to have a "S" boat (21') for the river... OMG that would be the ticket.
|
Schiada is in the classifieds up here under other. Its a 2009 - 32 with 525's at DCB for 155k also there is another Schiada 32 on boat trader that has 6.2 Merc's. 6.2 's, wonder who would order such a very nice big boat and put 6.2's in it. Kind of like buying a new Stingray Vette and ordering it with only 200 hp.
Back in 2000 Schiada advertised that they had a 29 single on the market, I never seen one nor seen one featured in any of the boating mags. Anyways they really make a nice boat also. Schiada performance boat, another very hard find. Speaking of hard finds, I have something in the works. Totally different coming soon I hope. |

They are big and heavy and dont run fast per HP per se they are usually slow when compared to the top three with similar factory power. (42 being pretty fast for stock power) Thing is there are very few Schiadas with stock power - that isnt why you buy a Schiada. The owners tend to highly power them and often use V drives - one can never know just what you are seeing and on the river a turbo big block is kind of the standard thing for them all hidden neatly under a hatch so they can be quite stealth. Not usually the prettiest with funky lines, but I think these boats are beautiful. There will be a V drive Schiada in my flotilla someday- after a deck boat. If you want to see a monster look a their 42. UD |

My friend that owns the boat here - lets call it the "C" boat. Its a 91 like my 20.8.
Hatch was just replaced to the tune of 2K because all the wood was rotted and unable to hold the bolts. The floor was rotted to but not inclusive of the stringers. 5,000.00. This can happen to almost any boat thats abused but this boat was cared for with great love The fiberglass floor with a liner draining to the bilge is the ticket as is a one piece hatch. If you flip boats after a season and only buy fresh no big deal, but as the boats age how they were constructed has a huge impact on longevity. http://i.imgur.com/U2niVcO.jpg |
First trip of 2014
Will Be in Parker 12-16. Rented a house in the keys going to chill after the big show.
Will have said 22 cole super hawk and the 20.8. Picked her up yesterday. Eric was a big help. Foot throttle boats are a blast too- I pondered giving this little rocket up, but its soooo fun. "Holy ****" from the dude "Oh My God" from the chick (she was smoking too) The wife units (riding shotgun) is a pretty cool customer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiYbs97NSyI |
Dave who rigged your boat with ITS ? Or I should say it appears to be ITS from Merc. - Pic a little dark on the back end to see clearly. I know that was not available back then. So your buying a Cole or was that the boat with the rotted wood from pic above.

This was really the only way to add external steering on this boat with cutting into the molded swim step (a unique feature in 91 - that came back to haunt me- but if its worth doing its worth overdoing - I spent the dough. The result is spectacular - The boat turns like a slot car. Especially with that looooong Speedmaster thats keeping me from the mid 90's with it. The Cole Superhawk is a buddies.. Like those boats -especially Little Durrells as its got a BoostPower 502 in it that flat hauls coal. I never liked coles enough to pick them over Lavey either on the first or second purchase. I look at everything. UD http://i.imgur.com/WG225Za.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Q1BAuqo.jpg |

Dave so is your 1991 Lavey an Al Lavey boat ? As Im not sure that Jeff and Chris owned Lavey way back then, correct? It looks fast as hell. Your not kidding as you said you bit the bullet with the drive and the ITS with the install that had to be close to 20 k. if all of that was brand new.
Ok so I have to ask, the dude in the passengers seat from the first vid - I guess his name is Eric - the one who almost ate the bird. 90 MPH and he had no glasses on ? That was a feat in itself. Funny the dude puts his sun glasses on after the run is done. I am somewhat surprised, no one wearing life jackets - especially at those speeds and just recently re rigged. I'm guessing a test drive ? Glad no one forgot to tighten a bolt. Just saying, NOT my business nor telling anyone what to do, just being in the business its a habit especially test driving. Man your boat was - is fast. |

I'm guessing a test drive ? Glad no one forgot to tighten a bolt. Just saying, not telling anyone what to do. Man your boat was - is fast. It was actually Jeff Camires Boat. This boat was originally documented in Poweboats magazine. Eric is the dude in the passenger seat- lets just say I think he gets the eye protection thing now. As for Jr ripping around like that - setup had been proven -but the mill was freshened and gone through with some new stuff it was more of a question to see how much taller a prop it could pull after slowly wearing down in 10 years. It actually runs faster with a 3 blade but Im still experimenting. I wear a mustang inflatable myself when Im footing it. The boat is blisteringly fast and is built to sustain high speed running while running ice cold. You can cruise at 60not even into the secondaries sipping fuel or you can spin it to 6K till you drain it dry and do it over again this setup has ridiculous control over the oil and water temps. Ive run many time from th springs to Laughlin for lunch and gambling with the babes and back (fueling at AVI both ways) Everyone that gets to drive this thing in its element laughs and giggles. It blasts through the midrange like you get shot out of the cannon while being super easy to steer and control while actually turning Its a low 92-3 boat with my imco and herring on it. 90 with the speed master and a B4 28 spinning. Stop by on the weekend in Parker you can drive it yourself and see. Its an awesome parker strip boat on a nice day. UD http://i.imgur.com/JkJ3lz9.jpg |
Small block, did you already tell me who built the motors ? if not who built them with 500 hp. That was not accomplished by an average builder. So your 20.8 likes the 7 inches of set back and did they raise your X or a 2 inch shorty drive. It looks like a standard drive length. A tad hard to tell in the pic what length the drive is being trimmed up but again it looks standard length to me.

Dicks mills last about a decade before a freshening. Alexi freshed up all the old parts put new ignition in, pulled the recirculating pump of and did a bit of touch up work. It likes the setback. The standard Speemaster lower is almost 2 in lower than my old Bravo unit and slower- hence the speed pick up with my imco lower off the 2750 which is -2. Uncle Dave |
U mean Sport Master correct. not speed master. The Sport masters gear case has a modified wedge shape skeg that was pattered off the dry sump Six drives skeg. The Sport master skeg has more surface area than the bravo plus its 2 inches longer in length compared to the Bravo.

One thing I call it without a doubt is - slower. Im gonna start working on three blades this summer to see what I can wring out of it. This package is magical - any regular guy can deal with a carbed small block chevy that runs on pump gas. Boat is relatively quiet, and comfortable on water that fits what it was intended for. Outruns 95% of anything you are likely to come across and the guys that do outrun you likely spent 10X what this cost to buy own and run. (aside form the ITS which I consider a safety feature) - A 600HP big block would have been more fun but far less responsible as I can now resell the rig with confidence to someone who knows what they are looking at - or pull it apart and resuse its guts for another project down the line and put a stock as a rock mill in it.
