Here is a couple of my 29 on the way to Desert Storm last year. First run on the new SCX drive.

OK have to bring it up again. 2 boats that I know somewhat well in person from the pics above.
Gel coat perfection 100 % great detail & work, a million dollar job, and very time consuming - but the rub rail el cheapo - 200 bucks manu cost, installed in one hour - ruins the looks of the boat - I am sorry but had to say it. Hopefully a point well taken. I still really like the Lavey's so don't beat me up too much. Carry on. |

LOL I was going to say the almost the same thing, I beat the sh*t out of mine so bad I'm glad it was the cheap one! John we were both right, my heart is having a some major seller remorse, but my pocket book is thanking me. With the lakes so low right now, selling her was the right move.
|
I hear you Bert. Try doing the boat thing for a living. This really stinks plus what a cold winter, no one did anything boating for the last five months. You should see Ft. Worth and west of. It is a lot worse than Dallas and east of.
Mike whats your next boat? . |
Thinking hard about a 29 closed bow :)

Mine before it was mine. Picked her up only to have to send off to storage.
I'm with you UD, can't wait for summer and to post a pic of my own! Well, I guess I need to figure out how to post a pic..... |

For Gods sake Mike when you order your new 29 order the correct rail so we can stop listening to Bup complain about guys that don't check the right boxes on the orders sheet. Of course where this is going, and where Bup is spot on- is a mandatory basic stock order change not to allow the thin rail. Some people should not be allowed to build custom boats. Thing is about the cheesy rail- is that I guarantee it annoyed me more than Bup- Notice my friend holding the rail....

Sorry I had to beat the horse one more time. Every boat has something that could be a "I wish it had just something a little different on it".
Chris I like the gel work on your boat sometimes the less is more great look. If I ever buy another twin app boat that is a fairly current model, It will not have side by side motors. I'm getting to old for that engine set up. Nice pics and really I'm not knocking the Lavey brand at all. I want a 29 especially one without power & drive. Post some more pics. UD heck I know your boat, I took a nap in the cabin when the boatshow was slow. |
GT what did Lavey use to get that look in the engine compartment. Very very nice. Man I would be showing that off at the docks.
|
Thats Kevlar.
Trying not to jabber in Scweengs "pict" thread. |
UD -hahahaha!!!!
|
BUP-
This particular boat was fully layed up using Kevlar/Carbon Fiber. I'm relatively new to the brand but it is my understanding Lavey does not paint or use colored gel over the lay-up like most other manufacturers. You can see many of them (Laveys) with the balsa or marine ply showing beneath the inner glass and resin. The K/CF weave is not translucent like the more typical fiberglass so you don't see the balsa core or plywood on this one. It is also a lighter and stiffer lay-up. http://i.imgur.com/cZIeaCd.jpg |
2nd on the apologies to Chris for the blah, blah, blah.
More conventional than UD's but speaks for itself. http://i.imgur.com/Hy6s1qH.jpg |

Man GT that is a work of art and your woman has a nice clear mirror to check her hair and make up after cleaning up your boat. Also I am glad you have the nicer quality rub rail installation, I feel better about than one. Dave your boat sticks out like no tomorrow in between those old mans boats. Looks like Catalina to me.
|
Yup Catalina. Attention is like arriving in a Ferrari.
