After Doc sold the Magnum about 1976 he bought the 40' Corsa, with some big turbo motor's tragically their was a oil fire on the boat and we did not see much of him after that.

Per APBA you had to have a American flag on both sides of the boat, Fred did it his way. I think it gave it a nice touch !!

Not a Lake St Clair Mag but while looking for pic's I found this story in a 1980 Powerboat Magazine, a Starfire test with BPM Vulcano 450's. Price $77,700.00 with Merc Speed II drive's, top speed on radar 71 mph. In the equipment list, CHICKEN BARS !! I would think a big block Mag would have done better speed wise.

Weber carbs are pretty cool on a boat......probably a full time job keeping that thing running though....

Look at the steering wheel placement........

I saw a BPM Starfire at the Plant while I was visiting it in 79/80.
Was a slick set up.

i due like how they did the cockpit.......Race lay up but cut the hatches and bulkhead back enough to take more people.............

You mean 81mph....? Pretty sure that boat went 81 mph.

Nope Radar gun 71 mph.
