Speaking of Lew Cooper, he started racing with "Madria Madria Sangria (he was the Gallo wine distributor in these parts). What kind of boat was that? He and us had a ding-dong of a finish at the Windsor Yacht Club race once, with Gillmore, Handyside and I literally ducking behind the dashboard at the finish line for that extra bit of spped. We won, but it was darn close.

Speaking of posters, we need Gordie Toward to join this group. I just recently discovered it, thanks to an e-mail from Reitzel.

Don't think so. I think Eddie Sobieski can give us some answers about Anaconda, because he raced it after he helped us buy Chartreuse from Lieber. Incidentally, Sobie was one of the best engine builders around. He built all of the engines for our $1.98 racing team and they did very well.

BTW: I wanted to ask you old school Magnum guys........

I was told by Magnum that they made just over 400 27 foot hulls......this includes sports, sedans, starfires, and center consoles.

So.....how many Sports do you think they made?...........I figure 200-250?

What do you think?

The year 1977, the place Cedar Point, This a great shot at the start of the race on Lake Erie. I see at least 4 Mag,s and one kinda Mag Aft-u-Too a Signature Marine. When Tom Adams came to St Clair Mich in 1976 for the River Crab Classic he unveiled his new red & white creation. For year's Tom raced a Magnum, Miss America, this Signature still had the Mag Hull with a new deck. When I ask Tom why it still had the Mag ID-# and Volvo speed master drives, he walked away !!!!!

My Magnum started life as Chartreuse and it was modified and raced by Gil Lieber. I bought it and raced it with the same name for a bit, then got sponsorship from the "Wishing Well" Restaurant in the same colors. Then Bonanza came along and we repainted the whole shooting match (even my car). I believe that's the boat in the photo and it lives in Monroe. TK's good friends with the owner.

As I understand it, this is my old boat, Bonanza. I plan to go see it soon, if it doesn't get sold first.
