What would be a good method to bring back the luster to old aluminum - I mean, really make it shine! I just removed the teak inserts to the gunwale step pads and what's left is a very dull oxidized surface. Also, the teak inserts
(although intact) are very dark and dried out.......would sanding a couple of layers off bring it back? .......I really can't afford to lose too many layers since they're pretty worn to begin with.............................................. ..Thanks

Being that you have the strips out, is there any way you can get some scrap teak and remake the strips?
I am sure there must be a way to do them.
