Default Help! Parallel Switch

Hey guys,

Need a little help wiring up the parallel switch on the dash and the solenoid between my battery banks/selector. Does anyone still have this setup?

What i have is 74 Maltese with 2 banks of 2 batteries (4 in total). Each 2 bank has the 1 - 2, Both, Off selector. In addition on the dash panel is a parallel switch that allows you to temporarily parallel the banks for starting purposes. It originally ran to a solenoid (4-wire) between the battery banks. It is no longer wired.

Does anyone still have this setup and how is it wired in? Photos, advice, etc. greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

You did a beautiful job, all Bob and I did is find the Starfire and do the primary repairs to her.I see you lowered the floor for driver and passenger, how are you draining water that collects there? Also have you finished up the front cabin, pictures would be great.Bud

Mark,

As usual, thanks again for your informative and quick response. Using the wiring diagram you posted, the manufacturers, diagram, and my 35 years with this boat, attached is what I came up with as a wiring solution. Can you take a look at it and see if yo recall this to be correct?

Green wire is to parallel switch.
Black is to ground

both 16 gauge and on liitle posts of solenoid.

Two red wires are two the "both" position on the battery selectors and then to the large posts on the solenoid.
these are 10 gauge.

It seems to be working and most importantly so does everything else that was working before! LOL

I can hear it clicking and both side still turn over. Hard to tell if it is boosting cranking amps as all batteries are fully chatged.

What do you think?

Thanks again,

Jeff
