After Wally Harper sold the Magnum Lil Smidgen he looked to buy new pleasure boat he purchased a 29' Mirage from his friend Pete Smith. I ran into Wally at the Boblo Island marina [some time around 1976 77 ] & talked to me about his new Mirage. Unlike a Magnum the Mirage had a inner fiberglass cockpit line like a 28' Cig had Wally did not like the way it felt . Wally sold it shortly after our talk & looked for a hull that was built similar to a 27' Magnum he found it in the 32' Spectra. Spectra's did not have a cockpit liner & had the floor glassed to the stringers just like a Magnum. I have had two 29' Mirage's & I to had to get use to how the Mirage's cockpit liner felt after coming from my race Magnum. The feeling you get in a 27' Magnum Sport is hard to duplicate, even today !
