I have never been on the river, will be coming from Decatur. What is the best place for me to put in and the best place to find a room close by? how is the depth of the water on the river? How far does this run go and how many stops? Thanks J

I use this to track river levels.

River will be on the rise with today's rain so there might be a bit of debris in the water by Saturday. Really depends on how much rain we get. I doubt it will rise enough to wash crap off the banks.

If leaving from East Port, it's approximately a 120 mile day since you're basically doing the trip twice.
The depth of the water is not an issue at all, as long as you stay within the channel markers. The only questionable part will be pulling into EPBC from the main channel. It's not very well marked (at all) and it's pretty shallow thru there. Follow some other boats and you should be fine.
See you guys Saturday.

Depth is fine as stated earlier. I will be putting in right in Henry. There are two ramps one by the Henry Yacht Club and one about 2 blocks away which is to the south. That's where I always put in and its plenty deep . If you take I-39 take the Henry, Rt. 18 exit. Follow that west to Henry. Just as you go over the bridge turn left and go a couple of blocks and you will see the ramp . Plenty of parking. I think it's about 35 miles down to Peoria one way. Usually stop in Lakin, Chillicothe, Peoria and possibly one more. There is a small hotel right next to the Henry Yacht Club called the Henry Harbor Inn. 309-364-2365. It isn't anything fancy, but still a place to crash. You could also slip at the Henry Yacht Club and stay on the boat. They have showers and you can get breakfast in the morning. This run is a little different than most. Rather than all out race, everyone goes at there own pace to the stops in any order they want. Some like to go a little faster than others. lol . You will also get to see the flying Asian Carp in person! I wouldn't worry to much though. I never have had a problem. They usually are jumping behind my boat. The weather is going to be fantastic, so should be a great day. Hope to see you there.

Yes, it was a great time. Weather was perfect. Lots of nice boats and friendly people. Thanks to Brandon and Amanda of Henry Yacht Club and Todd from East Peoria Boat Club for putting on a fun cheap event. My brother and I are always taking lots of pictures and here are some we took.
