Let me ask and get back to you on the plans. Most of the past/present attendees are slipped on Dock 3 at the Marina. Historically everyone would leave the dock and idle around the no wake in the Marina by the gas dock by the breakwall or just past the breakwall. Once everyone is is grouped together the boats will take off towards the first stop. The "pace boat" if you will is a 33 Outlaw. Red/Yellow/Black graphics with nasty sounding Brad Smith power. I will verify but historically you will take off from the Marina and turn right (North) and head towards the Rt. 48 bridge which is the second bridge on the Eastern end of the lake. Under that bridge it is all no wake. The boats will all raft up and at that time everyone can introduce themselves and a basket with the cards and an envelope for the money will be passed around. You will pull however many of your first cards you want and put $20 in the envelope for each card. After a bit of time to BS and get aquainted you will untie and head off to the next stop which historically has been Houseboat Cove. This is the largest cove on the lake just to the North of the Marina where you took off. Again you will all raft off and the basket will be passed boat to boat to draw your second card. Obviously no money need be exchanged at this point since you already paid your $20/hand. From there you will take off and most likely run down towards the plant intake which is the furthest Northwestern part of the lake. Repeat, rinse, etc... :lolhit: Not sure if they will do a 4th stop as the lake isn't big and they try to give the bigger/faster boats as long of a stretch to run as they can. So you may draw 2 cards at the third stop. The final stop is at the Galley at the Marina which is the restaurant/bar. There you draw your final card, determine the high/low hand, money is passed out, and the winners buy a round for the group. That is how we have done it in the past. Here is a pic of the organizer...the big sexy guy in the Baja. :cartman: I will talk to him this weekend on his exact plans and will post any differences.

sounds awesome

I will be there with my 35 Fountain Lightning,,, Blue, Red, Sliver ,, Brian will be in his 29 Fountain Fever,,, White and Blue.
Thanks

Knot 4 Me 05-08-2012 07:20 AM

There was a 38 Fountain in Houseboat Cove Sunday along with a 288 Sunny. Not sure if either boat is participating on the 19th.

catinaround 05-08-2012 07:47 AM

guys whats the closest hotel to the Clinton Lake Marina ?

Mentalpause 05-08-2012 09:32 AM

Look for hotels in the town of Clinton or the town of Leroy. Both will be about the. Same distance from the marina.

Knot 4 Me 05-08-2012 09:59 AM

I think there is a Days Inn in Farmer City which is close.

onestrghtridaa 05-08-2012 10:28 AM

Sunday we were out there in a 38 Fever w/ 725s...there was also a 42 Lightning with tripple 525SCs, I have never seen the 42 before and have no idea where he is from or why he was there....he was having trouble with the middle motor and it would not run! As far as the hotels go Le Roy will have the nicest one right off the interstate...the Days Inn in Farmer City have very limited parking and is much older.

That was my 288, and my buddy Ryan's 42. He goes by "Precision" here on OSO.

Knot, thanks for the heads up on launching at Clinton Marina...nice facility. Meant to get ahold of you before we headed out, but it was kind of a last minute deal.

No problem at all with the ramp. Best on the lake as far as I've seen, and tons of parking. Night and day compared to the state park ramp.

Thought that might have been your 288. Remembered the pics of it from Sunny's site. We couldn't figure out if the Fountain was a 38 or 42. We were just across from you guys in the cove in the 7 boat raftoff in the middle. There were 2, 33 Outlaws and a 303 Formula in the line.

Wasted Income 05-08-2012 01:47 PM

That was a nice looking lineup of boats.

onestrghtridaa 05-08-2012 03:39 PM

That US-1 is my dads boat...its pretty nasty...they are 725HP Ateco 540s...I hope to see you guys out there more often in that 288 and 42!

Located in Clinton,IL just south of bloomington. http://clintonlakemarina.com/

mike tkach 05-09-2012 08:29 AM

i am going to try to make this run,i am wating for some parts that are backorderd,i have never been to clinton lake before,is there enough room to really streach it out.

Knot 4 Me 05-09-2012 08:37 AM

Update: The Galley at the Marina will not be open for buisness by May 19th so that will not be the last stop to see the hands and dispense the money. Sounds like they will try to do 5 stops on the water.

As in years past, not everyone that participates in the poker part of the run can physically attend the run (this year, I am one of those people). So, the organizer will be drawing cards for several people that have paid for their hands ahead of time that could not attend. I want you all to know this up front as to not think something shady is going on.

I am flying out to Clearwater, FL this weekend and will not be online past Friday morning so anyone that wants an email addy or phone number for the organizer please let me know and I will PM you his information. Otherwise, have fun on the 19th and I will check back in with how things went on the 21st.

Again, Saturday, May 19th, 11 A.M., in front of the Marina. First stop will be past the second bridge (Rt. 48) in the No Wake zone at the Eastern end of the lake. Additional stops will be determined at the first stop. Good luck everyone. Have fun and be safe. There are many narrow and congested areas on the lake so please take this into account when running from stop to stop.

There are a couple of stretches on the lake where you can wring it out. But at 4,600 acres, you won't be running hard for extended periods of time.

onestrghtridaa 05-09-2012 09:24 AM

There are a about three places to run the boats hard, its not a very big lake but we have a lot of fun on it and usually end up in the one cove to hang out, I hope that eliminator and the other fountain show up...the lake is really easy to get to and the Marina has a really nice ramp and lots of parking!

skydog 05-09-2012 11:38 AM

Nice sure going to try and be there!! :) :) Sounds like my style of boating!

Skydog P.S. Might be in the middle of the big D so have to play day to day.. :(

onestrghtridaa 05-09-2012 03:47 PM

Skydog...big "D" or not, I expect to see you there, whats the worst that can happen...its not like its going to cause a divorce! jk, but I do expect to see ya there!

I'll be at the KY Lake run June 2nd. I'm heading down Friday evening after work and will be there til Sunday afternoon most likely. I've never been to KY Lake before so I'm really looking forward to it. Hit me up when you get there and we'll drink some beers.

Unfortunately, I can't make the Clinton Lake run. I'm scheduled to cover that weekend at work.

onestrghtridaa 05-11-2012 04:37 PM

80 and sunny next Saturday, has anyone figured out for sure if they are coming down or not?

slorider 05-16-2012 09:26 AM

Looks like it is going to be a great day for boating sunny and 86. Look foward to meeting new people and having a great day on the lake.

onestrghtridaa 05-16-2012 10:06 AM

Yes I agree, the weather looks great...I wonder how many people are going to actually show up...I know for sure there are 4 in our group which we are actually staying on the lake Friday night! I hope everyone who has talked about coming showes and I look forward to meeing all of you! We should have a great time!

onestrghtridaa 05-16-2012 10:07 AM

Is wasted income and his buddy with the 42 going to make it?

253 05-16-2012 12:45 PM

We will be there with 2 Fountain's, mine & my friend's 29 Fever, the weather looks to be perfect,
is it correct that the restaurant/bar on the lake is closed.
Thanks,, Mike

253 05-16-2012 01:11 PM

Does the water patrol enforce any speed limit on Clinton, or do we all get speeding tickets

onestrghtridaa 05-16-2012 01:34 PM

No, speed limits are not enforced...however if you are driving too fast near other small boats they will call it wreckless driving...just use your head! The water partol there is really cool and doesnt seem to ever bother us unless someone is doing something really stupid, or there is 13 people in a 19' rinker...The weather couldnt look any better, and there is restaurant that is open, however they do not serve alcohol. Just make sure you use the Marina ramp, google clinton lake marina for directions!

253 05-17-2012 09:47 PM

Sounds like a good time is about to happen,
Thanks

Wasted Income is in Wisconsin at Automotion this weekend. I wish I could make it, but I'm moving into a new house this weekend.
