onestrghtridaa 05-21-2012 11:10 AM

Yeah I had a great time too, nice meeting every one! slorider...didnt you take home both hands? I think I had too much to drink! I hope you guys come back over to the lake sometime and do it again!

slorider 05-21-2012 11:44 AM

We will definitly be back....I just won the high hand...but at $420 it was a nice ending to the day. I figured after gas food and beer I broke even for the day.

onestrghtridaa 05-21-2012 12:31 PM

Yeah you should...we will be boating all weekend next weekend as well, I would like to come down to lake decatur sometime and check it out too...I just dont want to go on the lake without someone who knows it...breaking even isnt too bad though! Better than I did!

253 05-21-2012 12:47 PM

It was great to try new water, and meet alot of new boaters, thanks to all for the great day, we were surprised to see so many nice boats on this lake.

Knot 4 Me 05-22-2012 08:40 AM

Got a few pics of the raft-off sent to me while I was down in Florida. Looks like there was a great turnout. Glad to hear everyone had a good time.

Precision 05-22-2012 10:22 PM

Wow totally missed this thread, haha. Happy to see something other than a 16' bass tracker on the lake this past weekend. Any plans for next weekend?

onestrghtridaa 05-23-2012 09:54 AM

Yeah, there is...we all are going to be out there for the weekend, I am sure the lake will be packed as it usually is...we will get there on Saturday eve and stay through the weekend. You and your buddy with the 288 should come down!

Precision 05-23-2012 03:12 PM

I'll say something to Wasted, but I think that he is planing on heading to the river this weekend and then Clinton on Monday. The wife and I are discussing heading down on Saturday though.

I took a couple of hours down at Clinton and verified that my ignition problem is fixed. Now I have found that my port and stbd fuel pump are getting week at the top end of the RPM range ( 4500+). But I am less than worried about running 85+ this weekend on the lake.

onestrghtridaa 05-23-2012 04:40 PM

Yeah I agree about the speed thing this weekend....it will be packed, we fixed my dads 38...the gound wire on the back of the block had just jiggled out of the end where the bolt goes into the block. Sometimes they have a band on the top of the houseboats...I dont know if they will this weekend or not though.

Precision 05-23-2012 05:35 PM

I was wondering if it was a connection problem, that's good to hear that you guys got it figured out.

They always have a band over Labor Day but not sure about this weekend. Houseboat Cove will be packed given the forecast. I'm sure DNR will have a presence on the lake and at the ramps.

onestrghtridaa 05-24-2012 01:50 PM

Yeah I forgot it was Labor Day...I agree that the DNR will be around this weekend too, I have not seen them yet this year so though!

Bdubs and I were hoping to tow our rigs to Clinton yesterday, but the threat of storms scared us off. Not to mention I had a sick baby at home. She didn't need to be out in the heat.

Looking forward to heading back ton Clinton in a couple weeks.

Eastport Marina is right next to Stoney Creek. There is also a great seafood restaurant/oyster bar next to Stoney Creek called Jonah's.

If I were you, I'd see if the Paradice Casino has any vacancys. Just a short blast down the road from East Port. You can either get a transient slip at EP, or just tie to the seawall overnight.

hows the ramp at East Port ?
Jeff

Eat in the Oyster Bar part. You can get either menu in either part. The Oyster Bar is nicer IMO. The ramp at Eastport is fine. There is also a public ramp next to Jonah's but I would avoid that with the river so low. Truth be told I would always avoid the public ramp! I used it once and that was enough for me.

I am doubting that the EP "private" ramp will work with his trailer. My buddy's 35 fountain trailer high centers on the private ramp, so he has to use the public ramp, or preferrably the Detweiller ramp. Hell even my 288 trailer drags some while putting in on the private ramp.

This one doesn't, but the one on Aug 18 does. Starts and ends in Henry. This one is fairly local. Stops near East Port, Paradice Beach, Riverfront, Captain Rons, Detweiller, and Ivy Club from what I was told. This isn't a run to let your boat stretch 'er legs, lol.

Good catch. Wasn't paying attention to the boat in his sig line. Yes, any long trailer will high center at the East Port ramp. I always use Detwiller if I put in North of the Peoria lock. If I want to be South of the lock I always launch in Havana at the park.

Here is a pic of one of my favorite spots to chill out on the river after a hard day of running.

I haven't seen a flier for this year yet, but I do know that it's August 18. I will try to scare up some more info.

Here's the thread from last year's run

Jeff

Morton has a few truck-stops, but none that are really conducive to a rig your size. Goodfield may be a good place to stop on 74 between bloomington and East Peoria.

There is also a Shell station right at the turn off of state highway 116 where you turn by Jonahs/East Port, though it can be kind of a pain maneuvering a big boat around there, it's defintiely do-able.
