Not sure if they still do this run or not.

You might check midwestboatparty.

We run a small poker run every May on Clinton Lake. How small you say? Well, here are all the boats tied up that participated in last year's run! :lolhit:

Actually we do stop and we do draw cards. It varies but last year we ran from the marina where most of us slip our boats down to under the Rt. 48 bridge. Then we ran back to Houseboat Cove. Final stop was down by the plant intake. Since there were only 3 stops we drew multiple cards at one of the stops to make up our 5 card hands. $20/hand, high and low split the pot. Any more than 3 stops on a lake as small as Clinton and the fast boats don't get a chance to spread their legs. I will post when we set a date. Very informal.

Count me in!

The Quad Cities poker run was a blast last year with a pretty big turnout.

Lots of nice boats around Henderson, KY (Ohio River). Bring that Lightning on over - not as far as KY Lake.

We can be at ky. dam marina in 2 hours from home, Henderson is about the same, we do like the Ohio river ,we put in at Golconda and run north . We may try Henderson this summer, is the boat ramp decent.
Thanks

ALL_IN! 04-20-2012 02:55 PM

The 2nd St boat ramp in Henderson is great. Hays boat ramp, not so good - especially with heavy boats (very steep).

Get that 35' over here - I want a ride! We'll be going to the lake at least once this Summer. But the river is so close for us, about 5 min drive.

Last date I heard tossed around was May 19th. Once the date has been firmed up I will post it along with the time the boats will gather in front of the marina to take off.

Knot 4 Me 04-24-2012 12:46 PM

For those interested, the guy organizing the run just sent me this text this morning:

"Mark your calendars for Saturday May 19 for the annual Clinton Lake Fun/Poker Run. $20 per hand, leave the dock at 11. Spread the word."

I will still be in Clearwater Beach on the 19th but anyone here that plans to attend please let me know so I can let Boody (the organizer) know what boats to look/wait for outside the marina breakwater at 11:00 A.M. Look for Boody in a red/yellow/black 33 Outlaw.

slorider 04-25-2012 11:00 AM

I will be there.... Baja 33 Outlaw Yellow/Blue

253 04-25-2012 07:51 PM

Thanks for the info, we will be there ,looking to try some new water, a good friend wants to bring his Fountain also if there is room for a few more.
Thanks

We've had as few as 6 boats (last year) and as many as 12 or so. We've had offshores, runabouts, and even jet skis participating. Remember, this is a small lake (4,900 acres) with no real places to stop at for cards so we make up our own stopping points. We used to stop at Boondock's at Mascoutin (small shack that sells food/drinks..no booze) but there is so little space at the courtsey dock we decided not to stop there anymore. I beleive they will probably setup 3 stops to draw the 5 cards. Afterwards it is strongly encouraged that the winners (for high and low hand) buy a round of drinks at the Galley at the Marina! Here is a link the Marina's website for those not familiar with the lake.

I'm out for the Clinton Lake run. I have to work.

mcourson 04-26-2012 02:22 PM

Here are a few that I know of around the area..but I don't know if they still have them.

Yachts to Sea out of Nashville did host a poker run on the Kaskaskia River in June.

Early June will be the Kentucky Lake Fun Run.

The boat club I am a member of is talking about doing a Poker Run on the Ohio river. Will take place between MT. Vernon, IN and Evansville, IN/Henderson, KY.

3rd weekend of September is the Golconda Shrimp Festival. A bunch of boats will run from Evansville/Henderson/MTV and make the 75-100 mi(depends on where you launch) run to Golconda and stay overnight and then run back on Sunday. That is one you can't miss. Lots of fun.

Maybe I will see some of you guys around this summer. Finally getting back into a boat after 3 yrs off. I run the Ohio River from Mt. Vernon to Evansville. Rend Lake is a hour away, and some family has a place on KY Lake.

Matt

Is the poker run on Clinton lake 100% for sure at 11am on the 19th of May? There are 4 of us going and I need to know for sure if that is the correct time and date.

Saturday, May 19th. Departing from the front of the Marina breakwall at 11 A.M. If something happens to where the date or time has to change I will post it. For those planning to attend, please post what boat you have so I can give the organizer an idea of what boats to look and wait for before taking off. Again, I will be in Florida the date of the run so I am the gopher between OSO attendees and the organizer.

Jeff

onestrghtridaa 05-01-2012 10:11 AM

With our group there will be a 38' Fountain Fever, 29' Profile, 28' Sleek Craft, 28' Sea Ray, 25' Sleek Craft, and maybe a 26' Baja. The Fountain is a US1 edition, the profile is all white, the sleek craft is yellow, the other sleek craft is white and maroon, the Sea Ray is blue, and the Baja will be white with a red stripe.

onestrghtridaa 05-01-2012 10:12 AM

Also who do we pay for the hands? where is the first stop? Will there be a meeting before hand to figure these kind of things out?

Let me ask and get back to you on the plans. Most of the past/present attendees are slipped on Dock 3 at the Marina. Historically everyone would leave the dock and idle around the no wake in the Marina by the gas dock by the breakwall or just past the breakwall. Once everyone is is grouped together the boats will take off towards the first stop. The "pace boat" if you will is a 33 Outlaw. Red/Yellow/Black graphics with nasty sounding Brad Smith power. I will verify but historically you will take off from the Marina and turn right (North) and head towards the Rt. 48 bridge which is the second bridge on the Eastern end of the lake. Under that bridge it is all no wake. The boats will all raft up and at that time everyone can introduce themselves and a basket with the cards and an envelope for the money will be passed around. You will pull however many of your first cards you want and put $20 in the envelope for each card. After a bit of time to BS and get aquainted you will untie and head off to the next stop which historically has been Houseboat Cove. This is the largest cove on the lake just to the North of the Marina where you took off. Again you will all raft off and the basket will be passed boat to boat to draw your second card. Obviously no money need be exchanged at this point since you already paid your $20/hand. From there you will take off and most likely run down towards the plant intake which is the furthest Northwestern part of the lake. Repeat, rinse, etc... :lolhit: Not sure if they will do a 4th stop as the lake isn't big and they try to give the bigger/faster boats as long of a stretch to run as they can. So you may draw 2 cards at the third stop. The final stop is at the Galley at the Marina which is the restaurant/bar. There you draw your final card, determine the high/low hand, money is passed out, and the winners buy a round for the group. That is how we have done it in the past. Here is a pic of the organizer...the big sexy guy in the Baja. :cartman: I will talk to him this weekend on his exact plans and will post any differences.

I think I may have passed this Fountain under the first bridge a few weeks back. Would have been on a Sunday.
