You shouldn't have any problems.
This is the setup on my old Heat with a Marine Machine setup.
I could still use slip in mufflers but anything else was not in the cards

Is it a problem if the exhaust blows on the cylinder?

I never had a problem at all and I was running a little bit of hp thru it

Bob L has my boat at his shop. Maybe he can get some pictures of the steering and tabs for you.
